I am sorry for asking such basic DMs questions but I just returned to the game after a 20 year hiatus (kids and marriage). I got the 3 books of core rule and there are two concepts (so far) I cannot master:
1) Attack versus full attack: I am not sure I do not understand the difference. For example a black bear has an attack of claw and a full attack of 2 claws and bite. How do I play one versus the other?
2) Grapple: I cannot grasp the concept in term of playing and what number to use to pin or unpin. I understand the concept perfectly but I do not understand how to administer it.
Sorry for being dense about this.
Any help is welcome.
Thank you.

A full attack is a full round action (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/actionsInCombat.htm#actionTypes), while a "regular" attack can be used in conjuction with moment. For example, if that black bear used his full attack (2 claws, one bite), he couldn't move (other than his 5-foot step). I recommend you read the SRD (link above) for more options and clarifications.
