Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask. I am starting my first session DM'ing and I am i a bit of a pickle with one of my PC's. He is playing a satyr and as an 8th level fighter with 2 weapon fighting he says he gets 3 attacks because of the headbutt attack. So 2 weapon and 1 Head butt. Am I wrong in thinking that he needs improved 2 weapon fighting in order to have the tertiary attack? Any help you can offer on this would be greatly appreciated.

Both you and your player are wrong. A Satyr (5 hit die Fey) Fighter 8 with two-weapon fighting has a base attack bonus of 12 10 AND a natural attack. He gets 2 primary weapon attacks at +10 +8 (plus strength and other misc. modifiers), 1 secondary iterative weapon attack at +5 +3, 1 tertiary iterative weapon attack at +0, and 1 secondary natural attack (the headbutt) at +5 +3 (best attack -5, half Strength bonus for damage). That's 5 4 total attacks.

One consistent and unchanging recommendation is to start games as a new DM at 1st level. A Fighter 8 Satyr is the level equivalent of a 15th level PC. The game gets more complicated and harder to maintain the higher in level you go. If you're making a serious go of this, start a group fresh at level 1 and take your time.

Andrew is right except on one point: fey have BAB equal to half their HD. So a satyr would have +2 BAB, and a satyr fighter 8 would have +10 BAB, not +12. You don't have tertiary iterative weapon attacks yet. But if the player select Improved Two Weapon Fighting, he gets a second iterative attack with his off-hand.

QFT (quoted for truth)

The rules for monstrous races as player characters are somewhat complicated and unbalancing for first time DMs and players.

In general, though, Natural Attacks such as a headbutt of a horned creature is always added to a Full Attack, whether the user has any version of TWF or not.
