| Zordris11-18-07, 07:21 AM | Hiya, Just a quickie this one. So I am going to run a 2nd ed adventure, for my 3.5 ed party. They come across, i dont know, lets take an encounter with a Tiger. Now, does that stats in the 2nd ed Tiger just reflect the 3.5 ed Tiger from the monster manual, or do I need to tweak it? How do I tell if the 2nd ed Tiger was laready tweaked in the original campaign, you know, a particularly meaty Tiger, or just a standard Tiger. I have never really got my head around CR and EL's. Any help greatfully recieved! Me |

If you already have it, look up the monster there and see if they did anything to it. If you don't, last year I picked up the three core rulebooks used on Amazon for $4.50 after shipping |

Just figure the EL according to 3rd Edition MM stats and if it's too strong or too weak then adjust as needed or desired. Try this link (http://home.earthlink.net/~duanevp/dnd/encounters.htm) for some explanation about creating encounters. It might help - that was, after all, why I wrote it. |

And if you want to worry about a bab? Just assume a lv of fighter every couple of hit dice. Sometimes more, sometimes less frequently. You can asign strenth bonuses as you see fit as well if really desired. Aside from reversing that AC though, you can run nearly any monster "as is" right off the page. Tigers, goblins, trolls, you name it - though you'll want to rework any NPCs or important creatures like vampires, liches etc. |
