Could someone help me please. In 3.0 DR for example 20/+3, well what would that convert to in 3.5? 5/magic? 25/magic? I don't see how they came up with the new way. Thanks in advance.

There was a 3.5 conversion booklet that was available as a pdf download from the wizards site. I don't know if it's still available but you might like to have a look. It explained the philosophy behind the changes rather than giving a specific formula but it might prove useful.

I'd personally go 20/magic. In rare instances I'd go 15/(element or type)

The DR numbers is usually dropped as well, giving people without the weapon a better chance of overcoming DR. Most likely, it would be 10/magic.

To sum it up, in 3.0, DR was something that never, ever came up. Why? Because regardless of the DR, the players would have the cleric and wizard cast Greater MAgic Weapon on eveyone's beat sticks, and just pile their +1 swords up with bonuses.

In 3.5, they nerfed Greater magic weapon, so that's not as practical, but the DR for magic weapons only requires a +1 until epic levels. So people still pile their +1 weapons down with bonuses, and have the cleric and wizard cast Greater Magic Weapon on them anyway. Except now they have to use a silver, cold iron, or adamantine weapon every so often. Or not, on account that the numbers are so low that most people can just power through them.

In either case, finesse fighters and monks still suck, same as always.
