3.x Ed - Youngest player in your group? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-08-05, 06:58 PM I have a group, and we play every Saturday like clockwork. One of my players is my 8 year old daughter, and she kicks some serious a$$ in the game - not just fighting but roleplaying as well.

What is/was the youngest player in your group, and how did he/she do?

03-08-05, 07:03 PM That would be me, our groups DM and off-time PC. Started DM'ing at 13, 15 now.

03-08-05, 07:04 PM I'm 38 and most in the group are 25 to 38, but my 12-yr old son plays and does just fine. He fits right in.

03-08-05, 07:11 PM Was 12 until I kicked him out for being to immature and doing sick things like crapping in the middle of floral arangments (in game, if it was out of game I would have throw him out of my house out right)

03-08-05, 07:11 PM i am 39 years old, have a 12, 10 and 4 year old playin lol, they are my kids, and they do ok, not that the 4 yr old understands much but he sure likes to get in there and smash stuff with his sword lol, funny to watch him jump up and down and show me what he is goin to do.,

Ah, it's been so rewarding wathing him grow up.

The res of us are between 36 and 47. I'm in the middle at 41.

However, I run my eldest daughter in a game on Fridays and she's 14.

Though our game is full of teenagers, I think we do a really good job. My only gripe is that they don't trust my judgement enough.

03-08-05, 07:37 PM I was 9 and was playing 2nd ed. with a group of 15-19 year olds. I was really lucky that they were so cool about it.

Then I took a break for a little while, played 2nd edition again from 11 to 16 with a group of peers that were right around my age. THEN we made the switch to 3.5, and didn't look back.

And then I came to college, so everyone is my age.

sophmore in Highschool (16) player 4
sophmore in Highschool (16) player 5

and throw in another sophmore here and there to play NPCs and that about sums up my group. I stared playing at 15. Our sessions go very well due to some very good Role Players, we do have some trouble with jokes and off topic discussion but we are nerds of the hard core veriety, we do not bow down to such temptations easily! lol.

03-08-05, 09:04 PM Honestly, I don't think I've gamed with anyone under the age of 20 or over the age of 29 since 3rd edition came out. That's a sobering thought, actually.

03-08-05, 09:08 PM Our youngest is me, and I'm 34. Our group has been together more than 20 years in some instances, this will be my 20th anniversary. Our oldest just turned 41 I believe, and those guys have been playing for 23 years or so.

03-09-05, 04:27 PM I started the ol' die rollin at age 12, but I really didn't start "playing" untill last year, when I was 14. I now am about to start a campaign with my 1 player. (even then I only DM'ed)

My phrase in school is,
"While you were rolling joints I was rolling dice!"
then... they beat me up.

I never played on campouts, but I have played with a few of my BoyScout friends.

Nothing like a group of us Eagle Scouts trying to figure out who is the party face.

I never played on campouts, but I have played with a few of my BoyScout friends.

That's a shame. Maybe it is just because I had my first D&D experiances around a campfire, but it is still my favorite place to play.

I highly recomend camping trip D&D to anyone who has never tried it. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

03-09-05, 07:26 PM I'm 16 and within my group our youngest is 13. But he's mature and swaps off DMing with me. The rest of the group is 16,19,18 and 20.

Though I'm DMing a weekly wednesday game with my little brother and his friends. It can get rather painful my brother's good but some of his friends drive me up the wall. He's 9 (almost 10) and his friends are 12,9, and 12. The other 9-year old is very excitable but they're good for the most part.

03-09-05, 07:53 PM 11, had his 12th birthday at the game. I made a kicker of a cake with a Sorcerer fighting a red dragon. Used 12 real d12's as jewels in the dragon's hoard.

He's now 13.

In my upcoming game that I will try my hand in DMing I will be the oldest as the others are all about 16-17 I believe.Shall be interesting having a younger crowd around.

However I hope to start teaching my daughters very soon and they are 10 and 8 years old. The rule has been up until now that they couldn't play until they could read and comprehend the words in the rulebooks.

My first adventure wasn't exactly a success, though... Ah the memories! The goblin chief with the lightning sword that dissolved so the PCs couldn't keep it. The floor that smashed into the roof, which was a save or die trap. The white dragon on level 2 that wiped out the entire party. I learned about game balance the hard way!

In my current group the youngest player is 24 or so. The oldest would be about 26.
