| Ualaa02-19-05, 12:03 PM | My group consists of 4 players, with well above average ability scores. Each character has a template ranging from +2 to +4. Basically, they're a few levels stronger in some regards (stats, resists) but maximum spells and hit points are as actual character level. The PC's are likely to choose to enter a tournament, because the prize will be one they cannot walk away from, knowing my PC's. The basic format will be an arena, circular with a diameter around 100 squares or so. I'm thinking unbuffed going in, aside from 2 rounds of prep time before combat commences. As a quirk, 4 rounds after a PC/NPC is killed, they receive True Ressurrection, including full spells/power points as they were in the morning. I want three or four rounds of combats, each round a challenge preferably more so then the previous round. Basically I'm looking for groups of 4 npc's which synergize well. I don't really want to kill of my PC, but if they came close, that would be ok... (dm grin). My PC's are all Gestalt, so opponents probably should be as well. Ideas of synergy or neat combinations are what I'm looking for the most; I'll do the build, unless someone is so inclined to post one.. We have: Fighter 10 / Monk 10. - WIS to AC (2nd time), Fast Heal 5, Immune Acid, Cold, Elec, Petrify. Cleric 10 / Favored Soul 10. - DR 5/Magic, Resist Acid 5, Cold/Elec/Fire 10. Fighter 06 + DragonSlayer 04 / Psychic Warrior 09 + Sorcerer 01. - DR 5/Magic & Silver, Immune Poison, Resist Acid/Cold/Elec/Fire 10, Scent ability, Freedom of Movement (constant). Wizard 10 / Psion 10 (Kineticist). - Half Dragon: Red. |
| Board_Rider02-19-05, 01:18 PM | Drow Wizard 18/Spellsword 1/Archmage 1 Tiefling Warlock 11/Rogue 9 (this is a killer if you take the ability to see in Magical Darkness offered by the Warlock) Duergar(?) Fighter 12/ Rogue 8 with a Greatsword Assamir Cleric 18 / Divine Desciple 2 Adjusted CR's range from 21-24. Granted the PrC's here are from the FR setting. I had created these NPc's in the past month....for a Mock Battle. Lets just say, with the right tactics, you could have the same record as the ol' BR does. 5-1 (I lost on very well placed Meteor Swarm) Good Luck. |
| Thracos02-19-05, 01:20 PM | Ok here's what i'd do: Round One: (straight out of the DMG pg 112-126) Fighter 8/Wizard 8 Monk 8/Cleric 8 Rouge 8/Bard 8 Barbarian 8/Druid 8 Your PC should have no trouble walking through them with little to no effort. Round Two: Blackgaurd 10/Rouge 5+ Assassin 5(ex Paladin with a 10 level trade in) Barbarian 10/Warmage 10(Warmage is in Complete Arcana) Scout 10/Rouge 10(Scout is in Complete Adventurer) Cleric 10/Fighter 5+Warpriest 5(Warpriest is in Complete Divine) Your PC should find this alittle more difficult, but should still be able to beat them without issue. Round Three: Fighter 10 / Monk 10. - WIS to AC (2nd time), Fast Heal 5, Immune Acid, Cold, Elec, Petrify. Cleric 10 / Favored Soul 10. - DR 5/Magic, Resist Acid 5, Cold/Elec/Fire 10. Fighter 06 + DragonSlayer 04 / Psychic Warrior 09 + Sorcerer 01. - DR 5/Magic & Silver, Immune Poison, Resist Acid/Cold/Elec/Fire 10, Scent ability, Freedom of Movement (constant). Wizard 10 / Psion 10 (Kineticist). - Half Dragon: Red. Make them fight carbon copys of themselves(dark magic, golems, ect.). this will give you a chance to show them anything about their charictures that thay may not know thay have(magic item/spell combo's, new uses for class skills, whatever). Round Four: Kobald Monster Of Legend*-Fighter 12/Sorcerer 5+Acolyte of the Skin** 7 (*Monster Manual II, **Complete Arcana) Hobgoblin Lich -Fighter 5+Green Star Adept 7/Wizard 6+ Geometer 5 (Complete Arcana) Young White Dragon -Monk 12/ Wizard 5+ Enlightened Fist 7 (Complete Arcana) Troll Dire WereWolf -Rouge 5+ BlackFlame Zealot 7 /Cleric 5+ Warpriest 7 (Complete Divine) This round will be the hardest but if thay use stratagy thay should come out of it alive, more or less ;) I'd also make it a Double Elimination Tournament with only one round fought each day. That way if the pc get wooped thay still have a chance for a rematch the next day. The down side is that thay have to beat each round twice. Sence there is no chance of death i'd give the NPC's equipment equal to what a PC of their ECL should have. if the prize is really nice then i would make the first two rounds alittle harder by giving those NPC's better Stuff then thay should have, make them adventuring nobles or something. Pls forgive my spelling i know it suck. |
| Board_Rider02-19-05, 01:25 PM | Oh, I apologize Ualaa did you want progressive 4on4? Just 4 NPC's? |
| Ualaa02-19-05, 02:35 PM | Was mainly looking for ideas that synergize well... The idea is, 4 PC's vs 4 opponents, in a deathmatch type thing, one fight per day with limited buffs before the combat starts. Typically as a tournament progresses, combats become more difficult as weaker opponents are defeated. It is possible to meet a team in an early round, who would likely be around near the end, if they had not had the misfortune to meet the PC's early.. Thanks for suggestions. |
