| hmmmm12-05-05, 04:19 AM | note: if they get really mad just play normaly 1.make your game a cheezey musical and every 30 seconds break into song. like one of those disney movies. and every thing goes on pause. |
| AlphaSquirell12-05-05, 07:18 AM | 2. Give them cursed items with obscure curse effects. (for example, player cannot say the word "attack", something important to combat, but still obscure) 3. Have them face a monster with a ridiculously high AC that has a ridiculously low BAB. (meaning it can't be hit, but is never hit itself, and is blocking a door or something) 4. Twitch 5. Often |
| Draco Strang12-05-05, 07:39 AM | 6. Take ideas from these threads. |
| Silais12-05-05, 07:42 AM | 7. Play the 30 diferent remixes of the FF VII Jenova theme in the background while you play. Why do I get the feeling this is largly going to be a reapeat of the '1001 ways to tell that your an evil DM' thread? |
| OctoberRaven12-05-05, 07:56 AM | 8. Roll. Often, and for no reason. Never respond when the players ask why. 9. Ask your players to make saves, for no reason. Works better if someone got really screwed by a bad save. |
| tharivol26612-05-05, 08:08 AM | 9. Ask your players to make saves, for no reason. Works better if someone got really screwed by a bad save. u have no idea how many times ive made them make a ref. save to avoid getting a splinter |
| Herald@Large12-05-05, 07:50 PM | 10. Have the soundtrack from the Barney movie playing in the background. :D 11. Don't shower for 3 weeks, and eat garlic just before game time. 12. Lose everyone's character sheets. 13. Run an uber-DMPC named Twinky-Poo who always talks in an obnoxious whine. 14. Three months into your campaign, announce that you're instituting a whole bunch of nitpicky new house rules, and making them retroactive. |
| Rabid Dire Wolverine12-05-05, 07:54 PM | 15, I think: Munchkin your NPC's when the players aren't powergamers. 16: Ban base classes. Seriously, don't do his. |
| WCH12-05-05, 08:00 PM | 17: Insist on playing Liberti Fatale/O Fortuna/your favourite climactic song at every single fight. |
| Gailbraithe12-05-05, 08:46 PM | 18. Use any of TSR's audio adventures. I particualrly recommend the second adventure in the Karameikos boxed set. It has both screeching cats and Pixies who deliver vital clues in an ear-piercing screech gaurenteed to set off any migraine prone players you might have. |
| CryoSilver12-05-05, 08:46 PM | 18. Speak only in rhyme. Or alliterative phrases. For the entire session. |
| Silais12-05-05, 09:14 PM | 18. Speak only in rhyme. Or alliterative phrases. For the entire session. That won't just annoy them, that'll drive them mad. |
| epifreak12-05-05, 09:27 PM | Make the party bard actually compose, sing, and dance to his songs. |
| walker on the horizon12-05-05, 10:49 PM | have the FF ring town of when you win a random battel and have lots of random battels. |
| Dragonspirit12-05-05, 11:13 PM | Proprietary items. EX: Have them fight a big bad terrible iron golum with items of massive badliness and have those items self destruct when the monster is killed. :evillaugh |
| haukehaien12-05-05, 11:59 PM | Do only one voice for all your NPCs. It should be high-pitched and squeaky. |
| HyperVyperBeam12-06-05, 01:05 AM | I know it's a little lengthy, but this will work every time. Trust me. Get the PCs into a scene where they can get all caught up in talking to one another without much need of a DM, but be certain to keep an NPC in their midst to ensure potential interaction. Then while they're talking, pick up a book and just start reading. Eventually you'll lose track of the PCs and their voices will be drowned out by the thought processes which are required in reading and comprehending the error laiden wotc publications. Don't worry. By the time you remember what it was that you were supposed to be doing and you finally decide to look up, you'll be faced with a few really annoyed and impatient looking players asking in their loudest, and most attention grabbing tones, "We asked what does (NPC) think about the plans." Your response should come as follows, "Oh, he doesn't care. He's reading." or |
| Karasuko12-09-05, 11:01 PM | Make the party bard actually compose, sing, and dance to his songs. I've done that before. It's fun. :evillaugh |
| DMaster4212-10-05, 02:33 PM | 22. Make every door in your dungeon have the ability to speak. Also put a riddle in the door like trying to get it to say a certain word which is written above the door. 23. have all of your npcs speak in the 3rd person... the entire campaign. :evillaugh :evillaugh  :twitch: :twitch: :smirk: 23. face them up against a monster with an ultra high AC and BAB, but a horrible damage (so it's impossible to hit and it hits every time, but it doesnt do any damage :evillaugh :invasion: :heehee ). |
| Steel9110101-16-06, 05:20 AM | 24. When your players come to a massive oaken door, make them roll Spot and Listen checks. Go through your papers, shuffling through one after the other repeatedly, as if you are looking for something. Mutter to yourself. Keep looking through your paper work, then say "Aha - here it is." Read for a bit, then look up and say "Never mind. It's open." |
| Neverwrong01-16-06, 07:50 AM | 25. Make them haggle for every thing they Buy 26. Make all spellcasters have to use all spell components 27. Suddenly for no apparent reason, make it start raining pigs that turn to dust when they land. Make any surrounding NPC say "Bloody wizards,,. |
| mattman35401-16-06, 08:50 AM | 28. Always pester your Paladin with.. ahem.. Ladies/Men of the Night that resemble the King's daughter/son, but he/she can't do a thing about it. |
| TalonofTiamat01-16-06, 10:35 AM | 29. When describing a room with enemies in it, wait until the PCs start doing things and then mention the enemies. DM: "You find yourselves in a cavernous room filled with treasure." PC: "Okay I go over and inspect the treasure." DM: "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: there's a Red Great Wyrm on top of the pile of treasure." :D PCs:  :headexplo :hoppingma  :OMG! |
| kaeso01-16-06, 11:59 AM | 30. The characters walk off into a cavern for a while, and come back to find 8 rats attacking their horses. The rats killed one of the horses, and are feasting on its body. Could this work mechanically? Not sure 8 rats could take down a horse... 31. Roll the dice, and then say, "ah, that's good..." Your players will probably flip like mine did. Players: "What? Good for us or good for the monster standing over my unconscious body?!" |
| Koz01-16-06, 12:42 PM | This really happened. DM: "Four dogs jump out in the path ahead of you. They seem hostile." Ranger: "I use animal empathy to try and communicate." DM: "It doesn't work. Each of the dog's three heads breath fire on the party." PC's: "WHAT! You didn't say they had three heads! WTF." DM: "Well they do, Reflex for half." Koz |
| raven darqhart01-16-06, 01:35 PM | Make the party bard actually compose, sing, and dance to his songs. why do you think we have no bards in our group! LMAO  |
