| quaiven02-28-05, 10:31 AM | yes |
| randy98ss02-28-05, 10:35 AM | Thank you! I like the short but sweet answers! |
| Lord Ian Stark02-28-05, 10:40 AM | Yeah cause if you didn't allow it that would mean the character would have to actually share the same square as the enemy just to attack him. :) |
| anders02-28-05, 10:45 AM | No If he is 10 feet away and you move 5' towards, you will still be 5' short. Y = you E = enemy 0 = 1 square 10 feet away: 00000 0Y00E 00000 Taking 5' step 00000 00Y0E 00000 To hit you will need a reach weapon. The same goes for the last example. A 5' reach means you can only hit squares next to your own square. |

Your Diagram has him 15 feet away, if you have one square inbetween yourself and the enemy it is considered to be 10 feet seperating you. |
| randy98ss02-28-05, 10:55 AM | If he was 11ft away I would agree, he cannot hit, but what if he was 9 ft or even exactly 10ft away, can he still hit? He uses a Dwarven waraxe. Does that have a reach of 5 ft? |
| quaiven02-28-05, 10:55 AM | no that is 15' Player 1 = Y Enemy = Z Space = X YXXZ = 15' YXZ = 10' YZ = 5' |

Does that have a reach of 5 ft? Yes it does. My question is do you use a ruler or simply the squares on a board to move your guys. Because the wierd numbers like 9 feet or 12 feet don't really matter if you use the square diagram and just put everyone in a square. Can they actually be between 2 squares? Yes but why would you put extra BS into a system with enough calculations already. ;) |
| Nom02-28-05, 08:37 PM | A "5 ft. step" is a free action, so you can take a 5 ft. step and still make a full attack action. It's even specifically legal to take a single 5 ft. step between attacks during a full attack (see full attack rules, PH chapter 8). A "5 ft. move" is a move action. It is important to understand the difference between the special 5 ft. step free action and a regular move move action. You can't do both in the same round. |
