| Shade_Damara06-01-06, 02:23 PM | I wanted to share an amusing situation from our last session with you all. We had a new guy show up with his girlfriend (she's an experienced player that's played with us many times) and ask what level character he needed for the upcoming adventure. I informed him we needed a 13th level character and he designed a rogue... Now at first I wasn't worried, but I should have been when he asked: "Can I buy cursed items?" This just shocked me and I agreed because...well...if he wants to waste money on cursed items... So he makes his character and buys the Belt of Cat's strength (and he really should have realised at level 13 most monsters would be their encounter level or higher) and a bag of endless caltrops that he was absolutely obsessed with. He bought some sort of weapon I don't even remember, but it wasn't magical, nor was his armor and he did buy two rings, but all they did was cause two points of damage to monsters that hit him. So, to my annoyance and to the annoyance of the rest of the party, he turned into an annoying git and started whining in every single battle when he was incapable of so much scratching anything. He complained that he couldn't hurt the constructs they were fighting and instead of trying to find some magic items he just let his character die (after trying to kill a Jugernaught with his caltrops...) and refused to be ressurected. He was then offered a character sheet for a rogue that we had as a spare and refused that as well and spent the rest of the session brooding. What do you even say to something like that? All I can say is at least we have new jokes in the group. |
