| GOAK11-06-05, 02:44 PM | I'm in need of some rules advice. The situation is a Vampire went gaseous and moved 10feet, just getting into some wall cracks. The Sorcerer decides to cast Dispel Magic on the Vamp. The Dispel check was successful, but our group isn't unanimously sure if the Vamp's Special Quality Gaseous Form ability can be Dispelled. We attempted to move on, deciding that it could be, but ran into the big roadblock. The Vamp would reform about 2 feet into the wall crack. What happens then? The Vamp can't go gaseous from HP reduction from the crushing damage because of Dispel right? The Favored Soul and Druid (STR 16 and 20) are wondering if they could rip the Vamp out of the wall and hold him steady (that's a grapple check to pull and another to pin right?) while the fighter beheads him. If so I would need the hardness of bone for the "Sunder/Called Shot/Coup de Grace" attack. Also the party has 2 rounds to do that, because I used the magic item supresion rule from Dispel on the Gaseous Form (1D4, result 2). Also if a Vamp, or Vamp spawn, is in the reduced past 0 HP (aka gaseous retreat into coffin) state in it's only coffin, and the the coffin is destroyed, is the Vamp perminately destroyed? The rules don't say anything for or against this. Specifically this is the very first encounter in City Of The Spider Queen. |
