Just would like a couple of ideas on this one. I have a PC who is die-hard on playing a vampire. But the vampire template just doesn't fit right because of the restrictions in daylight and what not like that. I have some ideas of my own to update the template to my game but if anyone has any ideas I would be most appreciated. Normally if this would stump me so to get it right I wouldn't aloow it but my player is truly die-hard on doing this. I have a party of about 7 and the party lvl is 6. Any ideas like I said before would be great.

Just don't allow it. Seriously. You seem to already have your mind made up on this. Ask him why he is so set on being a vampire. The vampire template is extremely powerful and, if played correctly, will be a disruption to a good-aligned group.

Hand your player a copy of Vampire: The Masquerade by Whitewolf games and tell him to have fun.

If it doesn't fit your game, don't give it to them. It's nice he wants to be a vampire, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

Alternately, give him the template, then have him play catch up as the other PCs go off to complete quests that he can only join them on at night.

The Vampire was broken up into a monster class on some web enhancement. Have him start taking that. The 'Crispy in sun' thing won't show up for a whileand by the time he's a full vampire, the ECl will be about right.

Gotrek, this does sound like one of those times where a DM should say no. It also sounds like you came here to ask so you would feel ok about saying no.

Well if this is the case, tell your player that we said no. That way he will be mad at us

Follow your heart on this one. Vampires do not belong in a good party.
