| Brumbleroot11-27-03, 10:27 AM | Ok, some friends are coming back for cristmas. We have planned a classic"D&D christmas adventure tale." I need some good adventure hooks. And a link to a page that has some pictures of buildings and caracters during winter. That was all :) Brumble. |
| Malchior11-27-03, 10:34 AM | The PCs are summoned by the clergy and are told that a terrible thing has occured. Lord Niklaus, the benevolent (wizard) Lord of the Northern reaches is missing. Unknown to anyone but the church, Lord Niklaus is the mysterious stranger who leaves dowries, money, and gifts for the poor each year during the Winter Soltice Festival. The PCs must journey to the Lord's manor far to the north and find out what has happened to him, and get him back, all before the solstice festival two weeks from now. Oh yeah, and it has to remain a secret because none of the common folk knows the true identity of the mysterious gift-giver. Along the way they receive help from a Neutral-Good yeti with a toothache (maybe a cure spell would help?), a Snow Elemental named "frosty", and an "awakened" reindeer with the ability to fly and cast "light" at will (centred on his nose). Oh, and don't forget the Arctic Elves. :-) |
| Brumbleroot11-27-03, 11:48 AM | Thanks alot! Realy great! SANTA AS A WIZARD! :D They are going to love this one :) Again, thanks alot. |
| Malchior11-27-03, 12:11 PM | no problem. Merry Xmas and all that. Now, if you need to know what happened to "santa" maybe an undead lich (what other kind is there) who is mostly skeletal, knows Lord Niklaus' true identity and is jealous of the adoration he gets, and so wants to try doing it his way this Solstice. (Ummm..... noooo, I haven't been watching Nightmare before Christmas!) |
| DrakeRunner11-27-03, 12:49 PM | If you're going to do holiday pandering, forget disguising it. Just come out and label your DM notes. "The Party Saves Christmas" Have Santa be a high level paladin, just for craps and giggles. After all, look at his sleigh/mount. And you can afford giant Bags of Holding, Celestial Reindeer, magic deershoes, etc when you're not still making payments on a Holy Avenger. |
| Brumbleroot11-27-03, 04:16 PM | DrakeRunner, no. I want a D&D christmas kinda thing. Not a direct convertion. Not a sley and reindeers. Instead a dragon or something. Instead of litle green helpers. Normal arctic elves :) |
| starkey11-27-03, 08:34 PM | Last Christmas, The Wizards website had Santa Claus stated out. I am not sure if it is still available. I believe that I still have the download somewhere. I am pretty sure that Santa was a druid 13th/Cleric 5th/rogue 3rd. The Best of Luck |
| starkey11-27-03, 08:43 PM | http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/Santa.pdf Is the link for the Santa stats |
| Teron Gorefiend11-27-03, 09:47 PM | How about stat-ing out the Grinch? :smirk: Who else but a green guy with an undersized heart whould dare kidnap jolly Saint Ni... uh, Lord Niklaus? |
| BRJN11-28-03, 09:31 PM | Make sure that, somewhere along the line, they are stuck out in the cold and snow overnight. Make them have to be clever or face an Endurance Check vs the cold. Once they start getting frostbit, let them find a friend(?) who invites them in to warm up and drink hot chocolate. The drink may or may not be drugged. If it is not drugged, then it should be spiked. |
| jakubias11-30-03, 09:35 AM | http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/dx20011222x Heheee... try that, old Wotc holiday npc.... me like it a lot... don't forget to put some merry christmas songs on the background while the pc's are resting in towns.' Edit: Oh, you folks already put the link.... my fault.... |
| Taran Alvein11-30-03, 09:50 AM | Yeah, arctic elves would work better. After all, if you want traditional Christmas "elves", you'd be better off getting Dwarves and Gnomes. |
| SmiloDan11-30-03, 03:49 PM | On Buffy the Vampire the Slayer, it's a myth that Santa is a myth. Except instead of flying reindeers and gifts, he breaks into children's rooms and takes their spleens or something. Maybe do something like that. Save Xmas--from Santa! Alternatively, in Neil Gaiman's "Smoke and Mirrors" there is a 100 word long short story called "Nicholas Was" which is about how Santa did a big bad back in the day, and now the elves punish him by making him travel to every single house on Christmas Night. Maybe you can rescue Santa from the evil elves. Maybe you can catch the evil Santa and bring him to justice with the help of the Punishment Elves. In my 2nd Ed. AD&D campaign, the PCs exchanged Yule gifts and had a snowball fight. It was really fun...and funny. |
| Brumbleroot12-02-03, 09:38 AM | Hehe, evil santa eh? Would be a good twist if it sudently turned out that santa all along was an evil wizzie :) I'm prolly going to use most of the adventure hooks and sugestions. Thnx for the help everyone! |
| Brumbleroot12-02-03, 09:39 AM | sorry about the duble posting, I can for some reason no delete this post :( |
| Brumbleroot12-02-03, 09:40 AM | Offcourse! Great idea! Somehow I must encourage them to use their loot to buy eachother christmas gifts, eventually someone they care about. |
