| Fend08-13-07, 10:12 AM | hey, Recently my games have been spiceing up as a player lead roleplay just came to its climax in a battle between an evil player (who raped/slaughtered/desecrated/deathknelled/burned and communed his way into being a very very VILE character - Detailed in my post in the mature forums "One very dramatic and emotion filled session") and a radiant servant of pelor (who is pretty much well on his way to saint hood) I wanted to draw attention to their battle because im very proud of it.. :) it was completely winged / dictated by my players - not me. Just wanted to show off the handy work - Heres the link to the thread if you want more background information why the battle took place.. the evil player killed the other party members off (he even raped one of them) before hunting down the cleric who was away - to finish him off in the name of his new patron Orcus. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=13395632#post13395632 anyway, i hope you enjoy. |
| Fend08-13-07, 10:14 AM | WARNING - REALLY LONG POST - ive left out the the return trip to redfields barrow ... ill post it if people want to read it. Basically it went as planned, he summoned laeora and Ezekiel - found out about raziel - hallowed the barrow ground sucessfully (he controlled the situation very well considering he had to have laeora sit in one spot for 24 hours un-interupted to get the place hallowed properly) I also left out the story of Karlys return as a hellbred, or what happend to traygen later on. This story mainly focuses on Raziel and Traygens interactions during the session. Ive done my best to spice it up - but some of it is still rough draft (Specially the conversations). This takes place imediately after Traygen leaves the barrow - and prepares for Raziel to arive.. Hope you enjoy it :) ------------------------------------------------ Ariving into the sunlight they greeted the surviving cudgel knights who said they would remain till the evening to make sure no dead would again rise. Much against traygens advice to have them leave while he battle Raziel. Quickly climbing the barrow to pray – he sat and waited for Raziel to make a move. Laeora asked – “What shall we do now?” To which he replyed – “divination” ----------------------------- Raziel flew most of the way to Verbesk. Stopping to shop and Rest at his Family manse – before catching a boat across the lake to Harrowthorp – Eager to hunt down Traygen. He arrived to find the church in full sermon. He asked an altar boy where to find the hero of Harrowthorp only to learn he had traveled to Redfield’s the day before to hallow the place. Caught of guard, Raziel left pondering destroying the place. But the idea passed him by as he prepared to slip away without drawing attention. Traveling to redfields he noticed the tents of the cudgel knights – and a man standing up ontop of the barrowyard. Closing the distance to the gate, he realized that the figure uptop the barrowyard was infact Traygen. He addressed him confused, reminding him they were spose to do the place as a team. Tray shot back that it was a personal quest. Raziel told him the others were dead, but held back making any moves until he knew where the knights of the cudgel were resideing. Tray told him about a portal to Thantos in the basement he was yet to figure out a way to close. And that the knights were inside temporarily watching over the barrowground. Raziel then said, well, ill wait out here – we can go to town. Tray nodded and went inside to say his good byes. But something didn’t feel right, Raziel trusted his ability to sense motives to know tray may be up to something. Takeing precautions, he hid behind a large grave marker and turned invisible. ----------------------------- Tray entered the room the Cudgle knights were in , where he was greeted by Sir Tain. He stated that Raziel was outside and he was going to try to lead him away. When he was gone, he wanted him to tell Laeora (who was now waiting behind the barrowmound) to Fly after him but keep a distance – to not interfear – unless his Quasit does reveals its location. Tain nodded and Traygen left ------------------------------ Raziel watched silently as Traygen exited the barrow. A moment passed and the cleric called out. But Raziel did not reply – he continued to watch. Keeping an eye out for the so called paladins. Then something happened that proved what he feared – Traygen began casting a spell. He studied closely as he incanted, though it was from a divine source – the magic was similar – climaxing in a 5 foot diameter nova of shimmering light. Traygen looked disappointed – but Raziel was stunned. It was an invisibility purge spell. A spell he could have only set if he knew he was going to take on an invisible person… He ended his invisibility and stepped out from the grave stone and paced… “Invisibility purge … id hate to think you didn’t trust me”. Tray tightened his grip on his sheathed mace hilt “perhaps”. Raziel raised an eyebrow and began thinking what best spell to use first as he spoke “perhaps? .. well perhaps your intentions arnt as pure as you say”. Traygen didn’t let the charad go on much longer – “i assure you my intentions are entierly pure!” He said suddenly clasping his holy symbol “LAEORA” he called out over his shoulder at the top of his Voice – The Angel Responding by stepping out from beyond the barrowtop Statue , in a resplendent arrival of light and feathers – Greatsword clasped tight in her alabaster hands. “****” Raziel spat Stepping back off guard. “The angel!” he thought – his mind raceing. “You Will pay for All the Crimes you have commited Malkavian” laeora spat hatefully. “Hold laeora till I say” shouted Traygen, his gaze not leaving the battle stanced form of Raziel. Before Raziel could think however Traygen threw quickened blindness at him. Raziel Cringed as darkness attempted to cloy his vision – Shakeing it off he prepared to throw his own spells back but suddenly realized Traygen had cast another spell. Silence. Mouthing Curses Raziels look of rage spoke for him as he hurled a Silent Prismatic ray strait at Traygen – but a mix of frustration and bad footing allowed Traygen to easily roll to one side – clutching his holysymbol as he channeled his next spell at the sorcerer – Hold person. Raziel fell to his knees struggling casting a last hateful glance at Traygen as he fell face first to the ground. Suddenly something picked the sorcerer up and put it over its shoulder – An invisible being which began to flee. Laeora dropped off the mound and landed next to Traygen. “Deal with his pet” he intoned as he gave her true seeing. Suddenly the Deva made out a burly, gaunt featured man, obviously a Polymorph, making his way towards the gate. She Aimed her Sword and let out a booming cry – suddenly the heavens opened up and a beam of light engulfed the fleeing pair. White fire immoliated them both. The Quasits screeches of agony filled the air as the holy smite tore into it. Smouldering it picked itself up of the ground – but Traygen, who now cast holy transformation (to gain angelic wings) landed infront of the barrow gate. Looking both ways nervously the horribly burned Quasit Screeched defiantly one last time as Laeora casually approached from behind – Sword raised to the heavens – Uttering another heavenly cry. White light again Immoliated the fiend which bubbled and lost stability returning to Quasit form as the white fire burned it into a chared corpse. Raziel – tho badly burned survived the smiteing. Marred with terrible burns on his back he stared helplessly, hatefully up at laeora and Traygen who now stood over him. The angel unfurling her wings to half blot out the sun and instill a sence of dread and awe into the injured sorcerer. Traygen clutched his mace… but loosened his grip and sighed.. he couldn’t slay him. He looked to laeora who raised her gold irised eyes from Raziel to Traygen – never blinking, ever vigilant. “I cant slay him..” he admitted somberly “.. Laeora. Do you know what can be done with this monster?” her only response was a nod and a knowing smile. ----------------------------- In an instant they disappeared in a flood of light and feathers. Raziel helpless to resist the force that whisked him, the angel and the cleric across the planes in a split instant… to a place of light and wonder… of colors and life.. Of green fields and blue skys… Traygen adjusted his eyes to the glare of a warm sun’s light… sweet air, laced with the scent of perfect wild flowers and field grass filled his lungs. Well being overcame his soul and he felt comfortable.. rejuvenated.. at home. He dropped his gaze from a brilliant blue sky with silver lined clouds, to rolling green meadows filled with life and wild flowers. A groan from nearby brought his gaze down to Raziel, cringing helplessly in the grass at his feet in utter discomfort from his wounds… wounds that began to slowly but visibly heal. But he did not look back, for he was attempting to avoid the unrelenting gaze of the silver haired alabaster deva standing over him. Serene on her home plane. She spoke softly... but without mercy. “behold Raziel.. and Witness the beauty of fair Amoria.. home of the sun father. Witness the afterlife you might have had. Witness the afterlife you never earned..” Traygen looked about at the beauty of his gods realm.. almost hypnotic.. peaceful.. only the sound of soft wind cut with the soft melodic song of celestial larks. In an instant however light engulfed him… as once again, laeora whisked them away across the planes again.. to a much darker place. --------------------- Raziel found himself lieing on a cold hard, black stone floor. stareing up a rough chasm, cut with jutting spikes of slick glistening stone – a briar of rock stretching a thousand feet above to a seeming red line of sky. Brimstone and lightening cutting randomly across the distant heavens – illuminateing the numerous dark shapes perched or flitting between jagged stone thorns.. a chill crept down the paralysed sorcerers spine. Suddenly Traygen knelt over him and began to strip him of his backpack and enchanted gear.. his boots, his belt, his bracers, his necklace. Helpless, the outraged wizard attempted to stop him – but every attempt to struggle against the invisible forces that held him prone failed. Feral noises eminated from his mouth, drawing traygens pitiless gaze. “You deserve this end” he said coldly. Suddenly Laeora stepped into view, The only thing of any beauty to be seen. Out of place against the black stone chasm and stone thorns. “This is where your journey ends. This is where you will find whatever fate awaits your black soul… a place without pity. A place without remorse. To spend an eternity wondering the endless maze of baphomet” Lightening emphasized her last words as a thousand shadows – some of terrible things – flitted against the chasm wall above in an instant. Raziel clenched his fist and struggled regaining control. He began to twitch his arms and legs, his rage breaking bonds he gritted his teeth and managed to speak a word “No!...ehgrr.” he spat still struggling against his wards. Traygen rose to stand and stepped back towards Laeora, both gazed down at the struggling man. “This is for Kiba. For Karly. And the Innocents you carelessly slew back in Harrowthorp. Goodbye Raziel.. may the fates take you” As he said this Raziel broke free screaming and lunged violently forth to grab the preists robes – But his swipe only grabbed air – as in a flash of light and feathers Traygen and Laeora disappeared. -------------------- He hit the ground hard, cutting his lip. Dark noises emenated from the shadows all around the lone sorcerer. Opening his eyes and pulling himself to his knees he breathed out a startled sigh of shock as he realized the terror of his surroundings. The black cobble stone floor, littered with bones and skeletons. Rusting metal fragments, and tattered cloth. The walls, spiked and cut occasionally with Grotesque stone deamon faces, Yawning asif to swallow him whole. Some of these had a dim persistant spark of light in their eyes.. hauntingly without source.. and on each side of him a Huge stone archway heralding a passage fadeing into darkness – each crowned with a grinning horned deamon skull of black masonry. He suddenly shot a glance behind him as something moved in the shadows – Reflexively the sorcerer hurled a ball of fire crying out in rage and frustration. The ball traveling off into the darkness before exploding in a flash of flame on a far wall... Half crying he picked himself up of his feet muttering curses as he headed down a random passage... ------------------------- What seemed like an eternity passed by as he navigated breathless corners, T junctions, intersections and slopes. With nothing but his light spell for protection from the all consuming darkness around him. He finally got lucky when the first sign of a living thing he encountered were the remains of a previous victim of the maze. At first Raziel thought the man was asleep under his black cape, but turned him over to reveal an eyeless, skinless, gutless body. Hungry, he ransacked the mans pack for provisions – Stripping him of his gear in the process. Gloves, greaves, boots, a cape, a sword, a short bow and some arrows – all of this at least minorly magical… but no rations. Desperately, Raziels stomach growled. He unsheathed his new boot knife and began to cut meat from the corpse… --------------------------- He lived of decaying flesh and fetid water from the damp walls for days… sometimes it was blood, but he’d drink it anyway out of desperation. He hadn’t encountered anything but bodies and phantoms for at least four days… but he couldn’t keep track of the time.. When finally he came upon a chamber within the maze. A round room opened up, framed with pillars. At its center a grotesque stone basin collected the blood from the wrists of a naked Dwarven woman hanging from chains connecting her waist (and a chastity belt) to a single support chain hanging from the ceiling. Raziel, now scruffy, cautiously looked around... Then at the woman. Paranoid, he wasn’t sure how to react.. After 5 minutes of studying and listening to her soft groans he cautiously approached the basin. Saying nothing he examined the woman. Pale with slit wrists, her blood mingling with her long red locks. She looked otherwise unbeaten, pale and unblemished. Probably a virgin. Lowering a finger into the basin, Raziel tasted the blood. It tingled with somewhat dormant power… all the while the shadows around him stirred… but he was now preoccupied with thoughts of cutting down and death knelling the woman for her power. He concentrated two Scorching ray beams upon the support chain. The superheated streams of fire lighting the metal up first red… then yellow as the metal began to liquefy under the flames… all the while red eyes and glinting metal gathered in the dark. Finally the chain gave way… and for a brief moment the woman fell. But in a split instant a brutal sound of blades against flesh, bone and metal resounded as the woman tore in two at the chastity belt – spinning off in two directions as what little blood was within her spattered out gorily across the basin and Raziel. Suddenly Raziel snapped into awareness at the fact emerging from the shadows all about him came 8 Fiendish Minotaurs, each of the 8 foot tall brutes with red glowing eyes, Demonic horns and snarling faces. Raziels blood ran cold; each one of the beasts carried a vicious battle axe large enough to cleave him in half with ease. As he finished his initial look around the chamber he found himself staring across the bloody basin at the final daemon to emerge from the darkness – a Horrible goat daemon wielding a Gigantic Ransuer stared at him with Bale eyes – Relentlessly advancing even as the minotaurs stopped to watch. Panicking, Raziel cast greater invisibility and turned to flee, attempting to pass one of the Minotaurs. But as he drew near the Buleuzu waved a claw mid advance and his invisibility fizzled. The Minotaur made a baleful noise and swung its axe in a wide arch. Raziel fell back bleeding onto the stone floor clutching a deep wound in his side – coughing up blood while rolling into a phetal position. The Minotaur made a horrible mocking noise of laughter and presented the injured sorcerer to his demonic master – The Buleuzu – who approached over the basin and hefted its Ransuer high – ready to impale the sorcerer. But Raziel wouldn’t die here. Getting to his feet in a crouch as the beast closed he desperately fired of a prismatic ray – The indigo beam hitting the Buleuzu who reeled and barked as it struck it in the face. It swung its Ransuer wildly – sweeping past Raziel and impaling the Minotaur that wounded him – The beast Screamed in shock and pain as its knees buckled and it died. Bellowing in Rage the other minotaurs charged – but the Buleuzu lashed out at them too – stabbing another – Soon all the minotaurs fought the Goat daemon as Raziel struggled between hooves and clattering axes to an exit – hobbling for his life away into the dank passages to live another day. ---------------------------------- Days passed... and the gaping wound in Raziels side had been crudely scabbed over – thanks to the blood magus’s power over his blood. Finally he came upon another chamber… this time a massive Coliseum. The only exit, another arch on the far side… instinctively Raziels eyes darted about at the shadows... And he quickly flew into the air and went invisible to fly across the chamber… He was half way across when he spied in amidst the scattered bones, some fresh bodies littering the ground… Unable to see any enemies, he unsheathed his crusty boot knife and dropped from the sky to scavenge all the flesh he could… A minute passed, then another, as he became involved in his macabre task – stripping an elf of its arm meat… when shadows fell over him – and the loud sounds of eating resounded all around him. Invisibly he looked up to see a long serpentine neck connecting to a monstrous Hydra head – warped into something grotesque with horns by the abyss – Feeding on a body next to him… he whipped around to see more heads – a tangle of 12 of them – sniffing the arena for meat to consume. “CRAP WHERED THAT COME FROM!” He thought as he flew directly up, dodging through the tangle of necks – narrowly avoiding hitting the hydra – into the air right above.. he noticed it had dragged itself out of one of the many empty pen’s lining the arena side… thanking his lucky stars for his invisibility, Raziel, a now bearded shadow of him former self wasted no time flying to the other side of the arena – away from danger.. --------------------- The meat he gathered didn’t last very long and soon, days of wondering drew on more and more he began to go insane with hunger as his food inevitably ran out, and the shadows closed in all around him. He found himself standing straighter – and reacting more quickly. His eyes more adjusted to the dark, his teeth slightly more pointed, his cheeks slightly more gaunt… feeding on dead flesh and time spent in the abyss obviously beginning to change the sorcerer. He came across a small abyssal daemon, a scavenger with a vertical maw of teeth and a low body – feeding on the tattered corpse of a bugbear. Eager to not waist time the hunter pounced from the shadows – Scorching rays first – Immolating the screeching creature till it ceased moving. He then jumped on the body and feverishly began cutting into its maggot infested flesh… After he was done, he hazarded the daemons flesh… but it was bitter and dry with a brackish aftertaste. Spitting, he salvaged what good meat he could – before continuing his death march… -------------------------- Finally after uncounted days he was about to give up… he had been in the maze now at least two weeks now... Food was scarce and hard to find... he was sleep deprived, he was un-bathed, he was injured and suffering severely at the hands of his diet. Finally he stumbled, half unwittingly into a massive hall… towering above him again was the blood red sky and the chasm of stone needles. He fell to his knees in recognition of the site and stared up into the abyssal atmosphere out of reach high above. The air here seemed dead, dry... Almost lifeless. Columns Lined the Hall he was in – the exit far away on the other end. His fascination however distracted him from the sudden metallic clicks of the heavy metal portcullis closing behind him. In a flash he was on his feet rushing to dive at the portcullis. But his dive smashed him into it violently as it closed before him. “NOO!” he screamed – shaking the metal barbed bars. “Nooooo!” he screamed again in frustration and fell to his knees weeping tears of rage and fear. The heavy noise of hooves on stone however gave him an instant sense of dread… and he slowly turned to face the colonnade just in time to witness a Colossal Daemon stepping out from behind a column a mere 60 feet away from him. The Creature, a 20 foot tall Bull headed daemon, rippling with muscles and sporting an immense set of horns, let forth a great bestial howl, steaming the air as it beat its chest. Raziel pretty much shat himself. The Daemon, a Goristro, set its baleful gaze firmly on Raziel and with horrible momentum began to charge. Raziel raised a finger to fire a prismatic ray – But instead of a spectrum of deadly colors – his magic dissipated in his hands. Shocked he stood awe struck at his magic’s failure not even noticing the Goristo had stopped dead before him. Blotting out the sky above like a black Silhouette It raised a massive fist high above it. Raziel looked up to see this, and screaming vainly he feebly shielded his head with his arms as it brought it down… the sound echoing around the chamber both one of bones breaking under tremendous pressure and blood splattering. The pain was so intense he couldn’t even scream as the Goristo violently picked up the crushed remains of the rapidly dieing sorcerer. Pulling him close to its demonic face and snarling, The last thing Raziel Malkavian remembered was the fading face of the colossal Minotaur-daemon crushing him between its fingers like a piece of clay. end |
