| HunterCottage02-28-05, 12:16 PM | I DM a group of youth, my son and a few of his friends, and find at times I haven't had the time to completely prepare all of my NPCs etc... especially difficult are magic users. I find myself winging it at times and spells create a difficult task of doing something on the fly. Is there, or has someone compiled a list of all of the (core PHB) spells I could be given? What I mean is like the table of feats (Table 5-1 IIRC) in the PHB. Just a one-line, quick note of the pertinants of the spell. If I have any question I can just look it up, but this would surely help in adhoc situations where a need pops up... I'm not lazy, I just don't like re-inventing the wheel if it already exists... Thanks in advance! Brian Kuehn aka Hunter Cottage Västerhaninge, Sweden |
| Morwen02-28-05, 12:33 PM | Isn't that basically what pages 181-196 in the PHB provides? (192-196 for Sor/Wiz spells) |
| HunterCottage02-28-05, 12:39 PM | Sort of, but what I'm looking for is with the particulars of the specific spell. I haven't learned all of the spells by heart, I don't think I ever will, but want to be able to look things up quickly. Additionally we only have one PHB for the group... |

I haven't learned all of the spells by heart, I don't think I ever will, but want to be able to look things up quickly. Additionally we only have one PHB for the group... Ah, right. The PHB does tend to get quite a lot of mileage out of sessions, especially if you've only got one for the entire group. We have 2, one for the DM and one for the players, and that is still probably not enough :) Anyway, I don't have a list like that, but I suppose I could make one if you want. |
| krichaiushii02-28-05, 08:34 PM | You could cut and paste the SRD (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35) (spell list II for wizards) as a start, then add a PHB page reference number to the table. Alternatively, you could use the spellbooks through level 20 in the Tome and Blood web enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20010713a), but you end up with wizards that ALWAYS pack the same spells. Lastly, a great spell resource can be found at Crystal Keep (http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/index.html), but it goes well beyond the PHB. Enjoy. |
| HunterCottage03-01-05, 01:18 AM | Thanks Morwen for your gracious offer, but I was already thinking of compiling a list, I just had my hopes up that someone had already done this... Krichaiushii, are the spells in the SRD the same as the ones in the PHB?? I thought the PHB was not OGC. Another thing I just thougt of is PCGen, I just made a cleric and got out a list of spells that is just what I was thinking of/looking for. Does anybody know how I could just take out a list of all the spells?? Thanks again for everything! HC |
| krichaiushii03-01-05, 01:24 PM | They are indeed the same - with some name changes (any "named" spell has the name replaced or removed. Mordenkainen, Bigby, Tenser, etc) but once you know the cosmetic differences, they are the exact same. In fact, the SRD lacks anything resembling fluff, examples or pictures - making the PHB and other books a better deal. But its available and should be used. Enjoy. |
| Galadan_Ironstone03-01-05, 01:30 PM | HunterCottage ... go here: http://www.emass-web.com Download the D & D character sheet. |
| Zycko03-01-05, 07:30 PM | System Reference Documents (http://systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html) - Is one way to go. This is the SRD made by Sovelior & Sage. I know I have an excel sheet on my computer with all the spells listed and different ways to look through them (only display spells with somatic components, only with verbal and somatic, etc). I can find out where I got it from if you are interested? |
| HunterCottage03-02-05, 03:07 PM | Zycko! Indeed, yes please find out where you got the list from! Let me know what you find out... Thanks in advance!! Krich, I guess I'm going to have to download and look into the SRD. I've only pulled down the Modern SRD, never crossed my mind to download any others. Thanks again!! Galadan, thanks I'm going to download it and take a look at it... Appreciate the link, thanks! |
| HunterCottage03-02-05, 03:47 PM | Galadan! You had a great link there! I found exactly what I was looking for!!! Thanks again! Krich, thanks for waking me up to the SRD! It is very useful and best of all it is free!! |
| Zycko03-03-05, 03:32 PM | Seems like I got the table from the host of Sovelior & Sage's SRD as well.. System Reference Documents (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/) - It's under 3.5 Misc. (the Excel tables). A more direct link: SRD tables (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35misc/35srdtables.zip) Zycko |
| Manwe197703-03-05, 09:53 PM | Thanks for linking that site, Galadan. I've been complaining within my group for weeks about the spell lists included with the deluxe character sheets not having the Complete series spells. |
