| Neo_Leviathan08-09-06, 02:11 PM | I know this might be better put in the Spells forum, but I thought it likely something to have come up in a few games. Firstly: The simple one. Does a fully enclosed Forcecage break line of sight/effect for spells? Ie, is the idea of "ForceCage the enemy, then dump a cloudkill in there" a valid one? Seems a very cheesy way to eliminate pretty much any non-spellcasting BBEG. Secondly: What happens if the cage is 'disrupted'? As in, last week in my game, the BBEG was seated in a large chair that was literally part of the floor (there was a tunnel entrance inside the chair), and he got forcecaged. Should the 'floor' wall of force slice through the bottom of the chair so that the 'floor' of the wall of force was perfect and complete, or flow around it creating a perfect seal between the force floor and the chair? |

I've always ruled that forcecage breaks line of effect, but not line of sight. It is, after all, a wall of impregnable force matter. So, no forcecage/death chamber. (Unless, of course, you cast the cloudkill first.) Secondly: What happens if the cage is 'disrupted'? I've also never bothered with the physics of it. I would presume it flows around it, but honestly I think this is a question of choice. I mean, it's not like he can tunnel under the floor regardless. |
