| BlackHamm3r11-02-05, 11:55 AM | In the past i have DM'ed for groups of 4 to 6 PCs. Would like to start a game with only two players. Any help on scaling encounters, making them challenging but not insurmountable? |
| Averroes11-02-05, 11:58 AM | LvL? Class? Race? Ect. I find its best to scale the encounters when you know your group. Like an undead encounter that would be hard with one group would be a joke with a cleric. |
| BlackHamm3r11-02-05, 12:08 PM | A valid point, sorry for the lack of info. Elf Sorc and Human Ranger, both 1st level, leaning CE, both PC's have added diff classes in past games so should do the same this time round |
| The Abominable Darkling11-02-05, 12:19 PM | I think the best way is to design encounters using half the normal number of monsters. For example, instead of sending them against four kobolds (EL 1), send them against two. Once they've advanced in level a bit, encounters one or two ELs below their level should make decent challenges. |

| Morka11-02-05, 04:15 PM | Yes, go for less powerful monsters, like 2 kobolds instead of 4. But keep the 2 other kobolds in the next room, ready to jump in the fight, just in case it's too easy... |
