| Messer08-25-05, 10:59 AM | I been looking through the players book, the DM's guide, and a lot of stuff, but, I can't find anything about a wagon, a cart, or a carrage, other than their prices, weights and descritpion. I mean, there must be a maximum weight that these contracptions can move, what would it be? am I just confuesd, blind, or are there no stats here? I'm not proud, and I will admit, that I a at a loss for this... after 40 mins of looking, I found that A Wagon is drawn by a horse, or another beast of burden. I am quite confused. Can anyone give me a hand? |

You can probably fill a wagon with gold bars, but the horses might not be able to drag it. "An average caravan consisted of 26 wagons, each drawn by 5 yoke of oxen or 5 spans of mules. A wagon load was five to seven thousand pounds, and an average day's journey 17 miles" scource: http://www.titchenal.com/atsf/ayw1946/paths.html I can't verify it but it seems ok. 19th century american wagons. 5k pounds, that's about 2.5 metric tons isn't it? Which figures why naval trade was so much more profitable... |

(shucks, now they can move all that treasure) np. You could have searched the internet yourself though ;) Although finding the correct line was hard... alot of Wagon companies popped up  I'm a bit suprised that 5 mules or oxen were used though, I never though they'd use more than 4 at most... I mean 5 wheel on the wagon right? |
| edwardsobel08-25-05, 12:03 PM | The Arms and equipment guide gives a 2 horse wagon a capacity of 2000 lbs. |
| tarkin08-25-05, 12:19 PM | That seems reasonable to me. The real life value was for 19th century wagons, and I can easily see a medival era wagon having a carrying capacity 1/2 that. Poor quality wood, metalwork, wheels, and engineering. |
| FriendoftheDork08-25-05, 12:40 PM | well yeah but 5 oxen can also drag alot more than 2 horses... but yeah the 19th century wagon could be more sturdy. |

It has both standard and metric capacities for a large number of objects. |
