Okay last weekend I startet my Gladiator competition in my local Role-playing club, and it all went well, but i would like to hear if any of you have any good advices or any good arena's.

I can write some of the things and rules that i use.

I use 32 Pbs, max HP each level, and the players can only use the 3 core 3.5 books, xp and is awarded like this: 500x enemys level for winning and 250x enemys level for lossing, and they can buy freely from both the DMG and PHB.
At the moment there is 6 different arena's, a standard 1 vs 1, and a 2 vs 2 and its random who is together, a pitfall fight, a blindfold fight, a monster mash, where you get 3 summon monsters and they are the only spells you can use...a little like PokeMon, and the last one Hidden scrolls, 2 spellscasters face each other, no spells other then read magic, the arena is filled with sand with scrolls hidden in it.

we where about 10-14 players all in all, and the highest level now is 3.

I was thinking about making it possible to create new gladiators, so that you can make drow's, vampires, trolls and so on later in the tournament.
but it need to "cost" something to change gladiator, right now i'm thinking that it should cost a level or maybe just a ½ level, but i'm not sure.

I could really use some good advices, so that i can make it even funnier for my gladiators.

If you really want to focus on gladitorial combat, I highly recommend getting a copy of THIS BOOK (http://www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=1806) .
