| Lazzmaniandevil11-18-05, 08:16 PM | First, If you look at my location and the first 4 letters of my nick and think I may be your DM, stay out of this thread!!! If not, please continue to read as I request your help... My players are about to find a magical book that's called a book of knowledge. What this book does is that whenever a question is written on a page, an invisible little spirit with mind reading abilities is conjured. The little spirit will wonder away for 2d4 hours IIRC, trying to find the answer to the question by reading the minds of any creature it sees. If it finds the answer, it comes back and write it in the book. If not, than just too bad. The spirit has no way of knowing if the answer he finds is true or not. So basically, you will only get the answer if someone in a relative short distance knows it, and if the spirit isn't destroyed, and you can get a wrong answer, so it leaves a lot of options to the DM for questions you don't want answered. Anyway, the thing is when my PCs will find the book, a few questions will have already been written by the previous owner, a shaman from a reptilian humanoid race exclusive to the setting, but kind of like the lizardfolk. So this is where I need some help. I am having some trouble figuring out what kind of questions would this guy have asked to the book. Some of the questions and answers could be humoristic and some could be serious. I already have one made that give a little hint/hook about the future of the campaign, so the other will probably just be unrelated, so anything will do. I'm just having a writer's block with that, so I tought I might ask for help... thanks |
| Always-Late11-18-05, 08:47 PM | Where did this book come from? Are any of my soldiers hiding something from me? What is it? Is anyone nearby planning any sort of attack? Where can I get a large amount of sickles/swords/whatevers without being noticed? What are my rivals planning? Has <insert name> arrived at <insert town> yet? The little spirit will wonder away for 2d4 hours IIRCThat spirit must be thinking hard! (One letter makes a world of difference.) |

It's the kind of details that you sometime forget when english is your second language... Interesting book...I dig it. It's from Relics & Rituals (p179) from Sword & Sorcery, if you're interested |
