| monkofpassion02-10-06, 12:48 AM | Ok, me and the PC's have been playing for a couple of months now. They started at level 3 and are now 21 (we play every other night). The PC's are a sorcerer, fighter12/shaper9, rouge10/shadowdancer10 (he died at lvl 20), and last but now least a monk. I am a bit uncertain on how I should continue with their level progression. At this rate I am certain that they will reach level 30 or even 40 in just a few months and I need to know when i should start capping things. I understand that part of the fun in having epic characters is in doing extrodinary things, but eventually the monk will be so fast that he can simply run/tumble through a dungeon and take all the treasure back to the PC's without and real challenge. Please help me. |

As far as your concerns, that's just part of the silliness of epic games. You're going to have to learn to deal with it. It's hard to suggest specific examples without knowing more about your group, but you'll just have to pay careful attention to the types of encounters you throw at them. Speed and mobility are usually mitigated by close range encounters (such as an ambush). As far as dungeons, just throw in things that require each different character. It shouldn't be terribly difficult to play up to the strengths of everyone involved (no more so than designing epic adventures already is). Or perhaps shift the focus from location-based encounters to event-based encounters. The DMG has some suggestions on this. |
