I'm a new to DMing and i want to try it. Ive played a few games with my friends, its just i want to change it up a little. When i play we are power leveled for the most part, so mass amounts of fighting, which is ok, but not my favorite thing. Than everyone is always thinks about what prestige class they want to be and what ability they get at a certain level. I wnat to get ride of this buy changing things up alot in a game.

The first real difference would be experence. An everage battle would grant you about 5 exp. This ofcourse is alot smaller than the average battle.

Next would be the actual classes, which have the biggest difference. I would be basing it on the Xbox game Fable, and if you have played this you might understand.
A player can choose out of 3 different choices for what they major in : Fighting, Magic and Skill. After choosing a major he would have to choose a minor which would be from the same list minus the one they choose.

Each of these would have a different ability

Major
Fighting: Fighters base attack bonus in melee and rogues base attack for shooting, good fortitude save, Pro w/ all armors

Magic: Wizards base attack bonus and rogues for shooting, good will save, pro w/ no armors, spells*

Skill: Fighters base attack bonus in shooting and rogues for melee, good ref save, pro w/ light armor, lots of skills, guile

Minor:

Fighter: Base attack bonus for melee goes up one class, armour pro goes up one

Magic: gains spells(not as many as a major magic would)

Skill: minor guile

So some of these example are a type of class if you think about it, a major fighter and minor magic could be a paladin or a major skill minor magic could be a arcane archer type charcter.

This is a way to costimize classes, and would allow characters to increase random stats intead of increasing everything at once. So for example if you have 50 exp you could bring your Base attak bonus for shooting to the next level, which if your a major skill you go from +1 to +2 and than to +3 but if you wnat to increase his melee it would be +1 to +2 to +3 to +3 and would follow the pattern on the charts for the classes.

For spells there, wont be alot of them but you can make them more powerful, for example, maybe you have a lighting bolt attack that does d4 damage and targets one target. You can maybe spend about 150 exp to add an extra target to the spell or spend 50 exp to increase the damage to 1d6.

Alot of this im righting down to get it off my head, just tell me what you think about it andif you have any questions. It probably makes no sense but im trying here to change this a little. Its just to get ride off worrying about later time.
