I was thinking, prehapes we should petition for a NPC Compedium, I'm not sure exactly how to create such massive index's so I think it would need to be a bigger effort that I could do on my own. So maybe someone more experienced could try this. Using the NPC rules of course, NPC character Wealth, and using the supplied Elite Array for ability scores.

What do you guys think, I have quiet a few NPC's I'd be willing to share.

It's a decent idea, but here's my problem with it. I think that, according to the DMG, the rules for conceiving an appropriate NPC are insane! I suppose that's because I don't play power games and D&D seems to be very focused on just that. 900gp is the wealth accumulated by a lvl 1 NPC? I love D&D, but I am sorry. Who ever conceived the economy.....well, you get my point.

This tome could be useful, though. I think it'd be cool if they broke it up into major, minor, and lesser NPCs. For instance, the lesser chapter could have taven keepers, mayors, commoners and merchants, their descriptions, and their quirks and habits. This could be useful in a bind when you're PCs say, "I want to talk to the owner of the Red Dragon Inn. What does he look like?" and you realize you forgot to make it up.

Minor NPCs could be most of your combat-related personalities. The Captain of the Guard, the rogue on the corner, the wizards apprentice, the bandits on the road...

As for Major NPCs - well this is where it gets stupid crazy and is why I despise higher lvl D&D stuff - you could have the characters that are the focus of the campaign. These NPCs would have to be very specific, including all their stats, gear, likes, dislikes, and motivations. Many a story hook for an entire campaign should be found in this chapter (i.e. Hazrigon the Black is leading a cult of monks who worship a beholder.)

*Note - Just to anyone who plays and enjoys the power gaming stuff, or even if you believe the economy in D&D makes sense. No offense to you. If that's what you like, than that's awesome. Have fun and good luck. I am not trying to flame anyone elses playing style. I just think - for me - some of the "rules" are riduculous and make me spend more time on changing them than making up stuff for my PCs to actually play.

Sounds interesting. I'd be in, if you can get enough man-power
