| Crimson_Concerto01-14-06, 04:17 AM | First of all, let me just say that I am not the DM of the campaign I'm going to be talking about. I am a player. If I were the DM, this would not be an issue because I disallow the evil alignment (and even chaotic neutral if the situation calls for it). The problem is that we have 5 PCs right now, and they're all of a different alignment. We have a LG, NG, CN, CE, and LE. Now, am I the only one who sees a problem with this? There's no way this can work out well. My fellow PCs who are being evil are being REALLY evil, and there's no way I can let my character let them get away with certain things, but I brought this up at the last session, and their opinions (the two evil character) was that I shouldn't be "cramping their characters' styles". Hello, what about my character's style? He's not shifting alignment in a campagn that was never meant to be evil just so I can pretend I don't care about them being evil. My question is: How do I talk about this to my DM? This is the first campaign he's ever run, and I don't want to tell him he's making a mistake, because I'm afraid he'll take it out of context like I'm saying I was a better DM than him. Could somebody help me come up with a tactful way of communicating this to him that's to-the-point? |

If your fellow players are mature they will recognise this as a purely in-game thing and not hold it against you (or, should you lose - you will recognise etc). That's just they way it is. |

Baring a geas spell or a ring of charm monster... no. >but I brought this up at the last session, and their opinions (the two evil >character) was that I shouldn't be "cramping their characters' styles". Hello, >what about my character's style? It's pointless. The players lack the maturity to understand this. >My question is: How do I talk about this to my DM? >Could somebody help me come up with a tactful way of communicating this >to him that's to-the-point? "Hi Bill. I know you've put a lot of work into it and I really appreciate you DMing for me, but I'm really not enjoying the campaign. It's not your fault, it's just that I've seen a lot of evil campaigns and they always turn out badly and end up with PC vs. PC conflict and bad feeling between players. So, I'm going to step out of this one. I really like to play, I'm enjoying your DMing, but evil campaigns just aren't my thing." |
| Cantankerous01-14-06, 10:24 AM | *sigh* Click on the link (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=568617) , especially the third post of the thread. Almost universally the problem isn't the Players, it's the DM. Someone needs to talk with this guy. Evil parties, even when mixed, CAN work, if the Players act like something other than bad kiddies and the DM is worth his salt. Isshia |
| grunty12301-14-06, 10:45 AM | This kinda thing always ticks me off. These people are taking of (as i would imagine) Your DM's very flexible nature, please correct me if I'm wrong, but someone (You) need to talk to him try to get him to grow a backbone. Meaybe this is coming of as harsh, It's not, it will be helpful for this campaign or any campaigns in the future. This is both the player's and the DM's fault. Try to convince the DM to set some rules on alignments. (Don't get rid of Chaotic Neutral though thats going to far) I apologize to anyone who managed to read through this and now has problems with their sight. :P |

Now, am I the only one who sees a problem with this? My question is: How do I talk about this to my DM? Before this can go any further, why did this group ever get together in the first place? [other than that's what individual players decided to play] What is holding them together as a group, and should they be together? |
