| Voldar_Mecorthio07-29-06, 08:23 PM | I dispise how in some games the DM awards XP only to people who beat the obsticle, or who give bonus xp or take away xp from players for some reason or another. It creates unbalance in the party, and that's very bad. I have an idea to eliminate the concept of individual XP totals. Instead, whenever XP is gained, it goes to a central party fund, and when it hits a milestone (the players handbook number times how many players), then everyone in the party would level up. Spells with XP costs would be converted to gp costs by 1gp=5xp. It seems to me that this solves all xp unbalance problems, but am I overlooking something? Please give me your opinions. |

If your DM is doing this based on how much you chipped in for the pizza, then I understand your complaint. However, if he is basing it off of role-playing (or lack thereof) then he is well within his rights as a DM. It creates unbalance in the party, and that's very bad. There would have to be a serious difference in XP totals to create a situation in which the characters are more than one level apart. Can you give us some idea of the sizes of the XP awards and in what situations your DM is giving them? |
