I just had the most disheartening game I could wish for :P. The campaign is set around three heroes that till now were working for the greater good, but tonight, they just snapped. The sorcerer threatened the innkeeper with a greataxe, tried to hit her, and stole from her inn in bright daylight. His alignment keeps "Dropping", his dwarven friend is just laughing all the time about everything, they made a bad name in town and ruined the next adventure that used the good reputation they had till then as a hook.

Now I have no idea what to do. The party's cleric is trying to save things, and I can probably find a couple ways to improve things, but I don't want it to seem like I am forcing a solution on them. The authorities were already too forgiving and were dealt with after a few coins, but what now? How can I put them on the right path after all that mess?

I hate to break it to you: you're gonna have to make a new path. This is a very common malady of DMs to get too attached to their plots. It ends up badly, I must say, because in truth it is the PCs actions that make the game and should they not be able to act a way, don't railroad them. Take a deep breath, and run with it. It'll be more believable and more fun.
