| jlpinfl02-07-06, 07:26 AM | still having problems with this. if a character can fly 90 must maintain minimum or stall if they attack another character is that part of the 90 move or are they hitting as they fly by? if its part of the move how much of the 90 move does it take up 5,10 ? another one. if it has a move of 90 is that how hi it can fly in a round.and if thats correct how much of it must be forward motion? if it's mobility is average and they must fly in a straight line to maintain minimum foward motion how much of there 90 movement would it be to turn around to attack another creature in other words is half for there forwad movement then whats left is for the turn? last one ,whats the minimum height the above character must climb to fly? and the minimum space required? thanks, thanks i know this one is sticky but its a major roll in my dark sun campain. |

Here's the way basic flying combat works: You fly at your opponant, trying to close with him using a single move action, then you use your remaining standard action to attack. Flyby attack is a monsterous feat that allows the attack to take place during the move action (like spring attack), flyby attack has no pre-requisite feats. You could also use Improved Flight to (hopefully) get to good fly speed, and be able to hover (stay aloft w/o moving). Hover (feat) grants the ability to hover as well, but does not increase maneuverability. If you have some more specific questions, shoot. [edit]You could do this: take a move action, turn once(spending the movement accordingly) and also make an attack, so long as the penalty for turning does not reduce the distance covered from your move action to below 1/2 your fly speed. Personally I just allways grab either improved flight (up to good) or hover and not worry so much about the tactical movement aspects. If you do alot of flying battles, I suggest pulling out a battle grid. |
