| The_Fan10-18-04, 11:45 AM | I am going to be running a module soon where the PCs enter a masquerade ball. Unfortunately there are four major female NPCs at this ball (compared to one male), and I know precious little about female clothing. I gave them random heights and weights, which taking into account their physical ability scores came out with four women of very different body types: Jaralie, Cleric of the Silver Flame, easily the stockiest coming in at 5'2", 139 lbs, befitting her Str 13, dex 8, con 15. Blonde hair. Mask unlisted, but probably Coatl. Grilsha, a striking sorceress (so she can change her looks somewhat via disguise self if need be) with a model's build at 5'9", 133 lbs, str 8, dex 14, con 13. Flame-red hair. Wearing an owl mask. Neya, aristocrat/diplomat/spy, average height but a downright scrawney build at 5'4", only 107 lbs, str 10, dex 16, con 10. Light brown hair, wearing a gold dragon mask. Meena, wizard/spy, she's short and wiry at 5'1", 101 lbs. str 8, dex 10, con 14. Black hair, wearing a blue dragon mask. Now, I'm trying to set up a 'ship between one of my players (he's playing a paladin) and Jaralie, and the other three are going to be in disguise, so I think it's very important I have in mind what kind of gowns they are wearing and describe it to my players appropriately. All four have high charisma (13-16), so all are likely to be rather attractive or at least self-confident and striking. However, since I know so little about women's clothing, I don't know what would be most flattering to their very different builds. What do you think would look best on them? Thanks in advance. |
| Tegemea10-18-04, 12:42 PM | congratulations on going into detail. I'm going to attempt a reply even though i don't fit the gender requirement. I do, however, have a lot of theatrical costume experience. Grilsha's hit me first. With a model's figure and an owl mask, put her in a sexy, form-hugging long gown covered with feathers. Its a swooping v-neck, and she wears a feathery collar-necklace as well. The sleeves just go over the shoulders and more feathers trail down her upper arms. Its mostly backless, but feathers blur the outline and the sides of her back are revealed through a net of feathers. I really should draw these... Jaralie has a frill-shawl of something like peacock feathers over a corsetted, full-sleeved blue silk dress, embroidered with silver thread. There is a thin, iridescent, spectrum-reflecting overskirt layer that puts a rainbow sheen over her blue skirt. matches the couatl idea Meena might well look the best. She's got a very constructed outfit designed to look almost like armor, all in a deep, vibrant blue. The top is as much breastplate as gown, and has built-up back plates or spines that frame her head. large shoulder 'plates' go out, and her bare arms come out under them, but are mostly covered by tight past-the-elbow blue leather gloves. The bottom is leggings with a little bit of 'armor' feel, and over that a blue skirt with four slits (two front, two back) that go all the way up to the waist. The skirt can be a light wool or heavy silk, so it has wieght but moves well. Neya needs to match a gold dragon.. hmm.. i think a realtively simple pale yellow or cream silk gown, floor length, gently fitted but by not means tight, with a round neck and full sleeves. Actually, more than full sleeves - the kind that get very, very wide toward the wrist and trail down. oh yeah. over all that is the shimmering gold vest, but a full-length vest, connected front&back at the waist, but then they separate again so its like long tails in back and continuing vest panels in front, all down to just past the knees or so. umm.. thats it. figure out your own shoes and hair |

| Tegemea10-18-04, 12:59 PM | if i were, hypothetically, to draw them out, lxarth (or the fan), and scan them, what would be the best way to get them visible to y'all? like what type of file, where to upload it, etc? me have small computer knowledge. |
| The_Fan10-18-04, 01:01 PM | Probably sign up for a free account at geocities, upload them there, and then rename the files from XXXXX.jpg to XXXXX.txt. That way you'll be able to link to them without geocities screwing you. |
| Vharuck10-18-04, 01:30 PM | Tegemea proves a point without really saying it: your PCs are most likely not fashion designers either. So how do you get them to remember the different costumes? Unique traits that stick in the mind. The feathered dress, peacock-feathered shawl, etc. Have them wear eye-catching jewelry as well. If I were a girl and dressing with a gold dragon in mind, I would spend half a fortune on rings, bracelets that jingle every time my hands move, earing that nearly touch my shoulders, heck even a gold chain wrapped around my waist (with one side hanging lower than the other) and the one end of the chain dangles in front but a little to the side with a small gold dragon's head statuette. |

Head over to photobucket.com Through some fake info into the registery thing and make a free acount. Then you can link to pictures from it that you upload. Its a real nifty website. Thats what I used to put the pictures up for my Vicious Venue entry. Hope that helps. |
