In my last sessions the players got into an erea of tunnels - the territory of a Destrachan. They handled the encounter preety well.
later they found it's main cave. In the cave there where 3 pepole sticked to the wall with two spikes protruding from their shoulders.
one of them was consious and one dying.

one of my players - a druid - decided he must get the men out from the spikes. I told him, it will require force to pull them out (it was dc 25).
the man consious told him not to touch him (because every movement causes 1d4 damage). The player try, fail , and sees that the man is bleeding now, desides to try again, fail, the man losses conciesness, try - fail, try -fail and the man is dead. Let me just point that he could have cured him, and that i told him beore that there is a dying man(the second one).
He then goes to the next man (the third) and doing the same rutine.
Fail fail fail and this man is also dead.
by this time the second man is also dead.

This was the worst desision making i ever encounterd in my campaign.
He tried to free the man - killed two who where not in danger of dying and ignored the dying one.

Let me just say that i constantly said - " the man is now in worst case then he was before, he bleeds badly"
"the man is now dying"
also some NPCs that were there questioned his action (but they where under the party's command)
and also the party members hearing this did nothing to stop him, didnt get involved, and literarly did nothing.

Now, i know this shouldnt have happend, I probably shouldnt have let it go that far, but dont know what i could have done? what do you say?

I am also interested in what can i do about it now?
take from them xp?
other punishmen?

this is a real enigma to me please help.
