We are almost done with it. :D At present the PCs are all near 20th, or close to 16+ if dual-classed. There is a 1/2 elf sorc/assassin, an elf fighter/mage, a dwarven defender, a human paladin, and 1/2 celestial / werewolf druid (don't ask). All have just finished running from a massive dragon like beast that got the drop on them. They t-ported across the beast’s cavern and through an archway, into a giant throne room. Then through that room and a set a very large brass doors. The Dragon beast has summoned a Uvuudaum, a chaos beast to hunt the PCs through the smaller tunnels. A Uvuudaum is a demon beast from the epic level handbook. It has 2 large arms and 6 med.-sized arms that it runs on. Instead of a head all it has is a great metal spike coming off its neck. The spike does a ton of damage + 2d4 per. Wis. drain. Which the demon recovers as bonus hit points, the wis. drain has a save dc of 47. It also has allot of powerful spells, and a 30’ R confusion effect. All in all I think this will give my players a good run and scream, terror tunnels, game session and give them a chance to get back into the campaign with out facing the dragon beast that kicked their tail once already. But here is the bit I need help with. I want this Uvuudaum to not just radiate confusion, but to also effect the local physical area. As it moves it leaves a perminite wake of chaos behind it. Such as a tunnel wall would change from stone to water then fire then flesh then to a stone wall with animal horns that howls like all the animals. And it finally settles at that. I also want this to effect the PCs as they fight this thing. I was thinking of using the shift charts from the geomancer (ToB) but they are all animal based. I was hoping to come up with a random easy way to determine what minor effects alter each character each round. All would be perminite. Some Examples being. Skin turns orange, lizard like tail grows out of center of back, eyes turn to soot. Hair changes to water but retains it shape; left leg is replaced with a stone column that is rooted to the floor. Stuff like that. The effects would have a will save, and SR would apply. The idea came to me from one of the end battles in the Elric saga, where Elric is battling an army of chaos, and the whole army he was fighting was constantly morphing, and the only way Elric wasn’t was because he had a shield that protected him from it. Any comments or ideas J. |
