| Aucturos11-08-03, 11:15 PM | There is already a riddle threat (and quite a long on as well) already on this board over here... http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45163&perpage=30&pagenumber=1 |
| MaelstromOfFire11-09-03, 11:21 AM | Thankyou... But, what about some puzzles? |
| Xaxor11-09-03, 07:04 PM | Give the PCs a set of four keys... or let them find the keys first. The final door they need to go through has four keyholes. Thing is, only one of the keys is really needed, and each keyhole must be turning in a specific way. Some clockwise, some couterclockwise. Every mistaken key or turn causes damage equivalent to a shocking grasp. Your players rely on darkvision too much? Have a room that requires you to light torches in order to open a door. Only when all of them are lit does the door unlock. Toss in a pattern to lighting for more annoyance. Levers, switches or pipe controls make good parts of puzzles as well. Make a room toward the bottom of the dungeon filled with water, and only through proper adjustments can the room be drained and the door opened. |
| Sildatorak11-09-03, 09:17 PM | I had a door with one of those sliding number puzzles on it (you know the ones where you have a 4x4 square with scrambled numbers and you have to put them in order 1-15). My players "solved" it by popping the numbers out with a dagger. I didn't give them any puzzle-solving xp, but I did have to laugh when the barbarian started to gloat about his "Dagger of Puzzle Solving." |
| MaelstromOfFire11-11-03, 07:31 PM | Thanks for the ideas... I like the keys... Any others you have used before? |
