| Mephisto1308-26-05, 12:34 PM | /begin rant ARGH! Rouge does not equal rogue. Why, oh why does this rub me the wrong way. I dont know. Maybe im a stickler for correct spelling, or maybe its because i have superior keyboard typing skills that allows me to press my "g" key before the "u" key when i type it, but whatever the case may be...TYPE IT CORRECTLY! Rouge is stuff that people (and i guess pixies too, it seemsl) put on their cheeks to seem more healthy. Its make-up people! Rogues can steal the shirt off ur back without u even noticing it. And when u do notice it, u dont have any more money to purchase any other clothes because the rogue took that as well. /end rant On another note...a rogue in rouge is pretty, oh so pretty. |

| ShadowDragon868508-26-05, 12:47 PM | Wow, spaz much? |
| Mephisto1308-26-05, 12:50 PM | LOL :D ...well that kinda put a cramp on my rant. :embarrass Guess that makes me *cough* a hypocrite *cough*. Still, i stand by what i said. Meph  |
| Radijs08-26-05, 01:01 PM | ur r a reel leet d00d u know that? I agree with you on the part that people should spell Rogue not rouge. But I am tempted to take out a big wet fish and slap you with it because of your horrid spelling of you're and not capitalizing I when you designate yourself. The pot calling the kettle black? Well I'm not perfect at english either but hey, who is? |
| Leewei08-26-05, 01:16 PM | Me is. |
| Illion the Red08-26-05, 01:46 PM | Smile and nod....the only way to deal with such things. Perfect grammar and spelling is by far too much to expect on a message board. |
| BeyondFated08-26-05, 01:49 PM | Do you know what irks me? People that make stupid topics about 'Rrrrgh! It's Rogue, not rouge!' ever other flippin' week! There's about eighty other topics on this, go post in one of those! Yeesh. |
| Tyler Do'Urden08-26-05, 02:21 PM | "Rouge" does kind of stand out a lot more than say "ur". I guess it's because it's in an obvious place, like if someone was talking about "Dunegons & Dagrons", you'd notice. You see it, you make a crack about "pixie rouge, that has the little sparkles in it?", and you move on. It's just a letter. "Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae." |
| TheErsatzFacsimileOfMe08-26-05, 03:06 PM | Personally, I attempt to type with the utmost of concideration with regards to spell, and grammar. I, like everyone, can be prone to mistakes...It's simply making the slightest bit of effort to proofread/correct your posts would greatly improve my chances of actually reading them, or better yet, actually responding. I too am sick of the "rogue" or "rouge" problems. |
| mathogre08-26-05, 03:13 PM | On another note...a rogue in rouge is pretty, oh so pretty. All the better to distract you... ;) |
| Morka08-26-05, 04:27 PM | I know my grammar is poor, and I'm sorry for that, my first language is French. The rouge/rogue misspelling especially strike me because "rouge" is the french word for the color "red". It's like if we said "Illion le Rouge (Illion the Red) is the same thing than Illion le Voleur (Illion the Thief)". Sorry Illion, but you were the perfect example. |

Yet another person making an example out of me...Really, I have to stop walking into these traps :D I give you a big nod and tip of the hat for taking such a big plunge as these boards. I have enough trouble translating what some posters are saying and English is my FIRST language. I can't imagine what it must be like for you. |
| Jiro08-26-05, 04:39 PM | Not everybody has English as their first language, and even if you do WHO CARES! As long as you understand what is meant! Perfect Quote "Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae." If it bothers you that much, maybe an English Grammer/Spelling Board is what you are looking for! :D (For the love of God, I hope I didn't make too many errors!) |
| Illion the Red08-26-05, 04:48 PM | Not everybody has English as their first language, and even if you do WHO CARES! To frame this gramatical debate with the proper reverance, we should examine the punctuation of this statement. The sentence asks a question, which clearly requires a question mark for punctuation. However, the statement clearly ends with a declarative question. Should an exclamation point be used in such a situation instead of the question mark? OK, so this was a poor attempt at pointing out what manner of ludicrous, idiodic nitpicking this debate can devolve into. |

| Deadlion08-26-05, 05:12 PM | Only one thing to say.... and it's about your sig Lol... "With your shield or on it" is not a Roman saying. It originated in Sparta, in ancient Greece. Actually, having just typed that I'm wracked with uncertainty. Ah, hell, I am amazing, the rest of the world is pathetic, I must be right! [Insert sarcasm here] :D |
| Nephite08-26-05, 06:49 PM | It originated in Sparta. I believe it goes "Come back with this shield or on it" -Mother helping her son ready for war As for the grammar stuff. I don't think the problem is with the people who make small typos (ie Illion's example), it's with the people that are completely clueless. I personally do not care if someone has every little apostrophe in the wrong place, but when someone types like an illiterate twit, it changes. I would insert an example, but considering I use proper grammar or l33t, I really don't know how to type badly without using 3's instead of e's. |
| Tyler Do'Urden08-26-05, 06:50 PM | I find myself compelled to build a character named Eric the Rogue. See if anybody gets it. |
| mathogre08-26-05, 09:11 PM | I find myself compelled to build a character named Eric the Rogue. See if anybody gets it. Mais oui. |
| dongol08-26-05, 09:49 PM | I find myself compelled to build a character named Eric the Rogue. See if anybody gets it. Wow. That would be quite hilarious. |
| UltimateReality08-27-05, 12:47 AM | I would insert an example, but considering I use proper grammar or l33t, I really don't know how to type badly without using 3's instead of e's. i tihnk it nvolvz useing fonetik speling and purposely messing up leters in ur rwiting, & being lazy wit things liek "4" & "u" & "r". o & dont forget no apostrofeez lol & just try 2 look liek sum 12 y/o grrl/boyz in a chat room or sumthin. It takes twice as long for me to write like that. :twitch: I prefer 1337 myself. And the lazy leet, too, not that stuff where you go nuts with the pipe, slashes, and all manner of parenthesis and brackets.... I did find someone who had an even more annoying (at first) habit though: She Capitalized The Start Of Every Word ~ And Used Tildes For Her Dashes. It Took Some Getting Used To, But It Was Very Distinctive! *LOL* She Was Such A Nice Lady Though. And At Least It Was Legible ~ Just Not Normal Looking, And A Bit Off~Putting At First Because Of It. |
