We are trying to work her into the group as a "rogue/cleric", but I'm not sure the best way to handle it. The players are very lightharted - none of them are evil, but they are more swashbuckling-scoundrel types. However, we can't have a devout priest traveling with them, nor do I want a pure evil cleric. Any creative thoughts? |

But with "disguise self" and such, that can be role played out very well. The cleric could be NG...or CG...no "goodie goodie" type, but still "good" where he'll help out his friends and those in need...as long as it helps him too. I have a player that does Rogue/Cleric and it's fun to watch it role played. Especially when she "looks like a cleric, prays like a cleric and while you 'think' you see a cleric, she's casing out something" :schemes: Her alignment is NG too. Let the person have fun...and it's an added bonus to the healing ability! Cam |

Now, play a very undevoted cleric. Perhaps he was a scoundrel or a rake as a young man, and his family sent him off to become a priest in order to "set him straight." He now wears a cleric's robes, but he still gambles, hangs about with loose women, etc. He pays a lip service to his religion, but has a hard time remembering important prayers and legends. The "Friar Tuck" swashbuckling priest also sounds sound. I don't see why you couldn't combine the two archetypes. |

| Not a monkey08-31-04, 01:46 PM | Okay, I see 3 major ways to approach this. 1. He's a straightforward priest of Olidammara, ministering to the unique spiritual needs of these wild rogue types. 2. As described, he's a swashbuckling priest type, generous with the holy wine and quick with a quarterstaff. 3. In a far more rogueish bent, he's a means-to-an-end type. Anything for a donation to the cause! He may not be the most devout, but he's so good at bringing in the worshippers and filling the coffers that all the higher-ups in the church love him. He's got an answer for every occasion, usually glib and involving a benefit to the church on some level. Charisma's a necessity here. |
