A simple question ( i think) [Archive] - Wizards Community

It's a rusted iron lever, and if the players try to force it, it will break. I just wantot know whats an apropriate measurement of how much strength it will take.

12-11-04, 06:08 PM All of the rules i have seen for breaking things involve striking them. I guess if I had your question I would first look at a good (nonrusted) iron bar. DMG pg. 62 gives an iron bar a DC of 30 to break and a wooden bar a DC of 25. Obviously a lever is weaker than a bar so for iron mabey reduce it to DC 25. Then reduce it for how rusted it is: lightly rusted DC 20, moderately rusted DC 15, very rusted DC 10.

This is made up on the fly from rules in the DMG (of course).
