Well, I just decided to list possible ways to stop a fighter from doing the same class over and over and over again: Here goes.

A suggestion- have an enemy NPC cleric cast both divine power and righteous might on himself and then kick his butt!!! It will definitely convince him to play a cleric if nothing else. +14 str +3 AC +4 constitution should definitely convince him he's been power gaming the wrong way.

Another idea- play his weaknesses- that is, murder his character on the basis of his low will save. Have a wizard cast dominate person on him and have him go crazy on the party and then commit suicide. That will stop him dead in his tracks. it will make him go monk.

Yet a third idea- bring in more books. I'm sure he'll start brewing into them searching for something even more powerful. If nothing else, he'll start looking for something more powerful but different. Rule mongers seem to have this problem backwards and forwards- if they can find an equivalent or more powerful way of doing something, all the better to them.

A fourth idea- here's an over powered fighter to throw at him that may very well catch his interest- level 2 ranger/level 2 fighter/level1 barbarian/level 2 wild runner/level 2 champion of corellon. After being beat over the head a couple of times, he'll wonder how it's done. It may very well broaden his horizons. If you want to add another level there, make sure that you take improved critical (courtblade or lightblade) whichever you chose. Such a nasty creation is rulesmongering, but it tends to work. Another idea of something to lure him in another direction is a level 6 sorcerer/level 2 luckstealer/level2 fatespinner. Such a thing can cause all sorts of fighter woes in his limited view

Why is it a problem that he wants to play a fighter??? You dont like fighters, or is your game one of those where nobody has more than 3 levels in any class?

That has got to be the most childish complaint I've ever heard, and that includes from children.

If your buddy likes playing fighters, that's really his choice.
Why do you not want him to anymore?
