| BladeMage_112-11-05, 06:02 PM | One of my friends wants to soon take a shot at DMing again. The first time he DM'ed, it...bombed. It's ok to bomb since it was his first, but after that, he just stopped. I got to play one small session, with one other player (the others were absent), not much of an experience. He was so gung ho on doing things his way, that he forgot alot of the rules (like fighters cannot make magic weapons, PCs come first, NPCs are not the heros, etc.). We ended up being railroaded into a colosseum where we were forcefully met by two other dudes (in which the DM said, "these two are important", without us even talking to them). After that we were again forced to go to a very generic dungeon (rooms were EMPTY), in which we faught 2 raptors and a T-rex (1st level) he fudged it so we could kill them. After that, I dont remember much, as stupid as the whole thing was. Anyway, he wants to take a try at it again. He said he needs time to prepare a campaign (1-2 months ago) and still hasn't even started it. WTF, am I the only one serious about this or the only one without a life? At least I put a good effort forth to learn the basics (and advanced stuff), buy the material, prepare good adventures and ideas, and let players have freedom. We rarely play D&D (average 1 time monthly now), and yet I'm devoting a good chunk of my time to coordinate these meetings and getting us all together to play (which, also has never happened, one or two is always MIA). This Saturday, I called this guy's house at 11:00 AM to see if everything was going OK and at least 4 would be there. He told me yeah and we are going to play. I get there and NOBODY can make it. The host never even called anyone untill after I got there. It's his house, he needs be the one to set things straight, or at least tell me whats going on, :censored: We ended up playing Grand theft auto for the next 4 hours while I was there. Sorry, I needed to vent. |
