| Kaminton08-23-03, 08:08 PM | The party has a cleric (level 13) of Kord, and a fighter (level 11) who worships Kord. There are 3 other party members. I am looking for a suitable test of faith. In this part of my campaign, Kord is moving from the god of strength, courage, and brawling, to the god of strength, courage, and leadership. Basically, change the emphasis from brawling to leadership (Kord's clerics were already expected to be leaders, according to the Greyhawk Gazetteer). Along the way, Kord is changing in alignment from CG to NG. I'm also looking for any interesting tests of strength, other than lift <x> or break <y>. Also, this is all happening on Ysgard, so I don't mind if some of the party dies :) Any ideas? |

| Kaminton08-23-03, 08:32 PM | Idea: In the setup/introduction, refer to the fighter as "scion of Kord". When the party arrives on Ysgard, someone (who? Kord himself? Kord's avatar? a Solar?) tells the cleric to sacrifice the fighter to Kord, and collect the blood. Or is this too dark/evil oriented? Remember, they're on Ysgard, where everyone who dies there gets a true ressurection the morning after. |
| Kexizzoc08-23-03, 08:33 PM | Hrm... as for the test of strength, perhaps one must lift an item which obviously cannot be lifted. One must use their brainpower as well as brawn to solve the puzzle. (I dunno.... pulleys?) |

| the lord of darkness08-24-03, 08:02 AM | for the leadership part maybe gather together an army of peasants to overthrow the local tyrant/ stop the bickering between 2 nations? courage, fight a dragon with nothing but your bare hands? after all anyone with an int of 4 knows if your fighting a dragon with nothing but your birthday suit you gonna get mauled, also a good test of strength and leadership if PC manages to convince someone to help. |
| Stormranger08-24-03, 09:22 AM | This might not be appropriate given the planar context, but what the hell... How about requiring the PCs to become leaders of a kobold tribe while simultaneously converting them to the worship of Kord, and to then lead the tribe to victory over some other band of evil creatures? Kobolds were only suggested for amusement value, of course - it could easily be something more imposing. As for the test of strength, how about having a tug of war against some prodigiously strong beast (an ox, maybe, if nothing more exotic suggests itself)? Or, for an extended challenge, singlehandedly capturing such a beast and then dragging or carrying it cross country back to Kord's temple using only a rope or a net (or any mundane equipment which forces the supplicant to rely only on his own strength - no carts or draft horses, please). |
| Tzalice Minoladir08-24-03, 11:13 AM | you could have him encounter some shadows or other Str draining creatures. It might be an interesting test if suddenly he's weaker (at least for a little bit) |
