| MortalPlague07-24-05, 04:45 AM | I was hoping to have the campaign I'm currently running wrap up by the time two of my players took off for a 3 month Europe trip, but with one session left, it does not look like they'll be confronting Lascarr, the Bringer of Calm for a little while. So a three month hiatus will need to be called. My question is this; previously, campaigns have died over shorter stretches. We've had great success keeping this one running by setting a weekly game day, and sticking to it as best we can. Between myself and one of my players, we've considered a couple of options for keeping interest going, and he suggested that his character would recommend the party split up if they don't manage to reach the lich by the end of next session; the logic being, the lich can't kill all of them (Lascarr's been sending assassins after the PCs). So here's the question. The PCs are going to split up next session and will likely reunite later on. I'll probably run a few solo or small group games between the other PCs during the time, but not much will go on. What are some ways I can keep interest up so they'll want to pick up the same characters and the same campaign three months down the road? |

It's not quite the same as sitting down at a table together, but you can get some really good role playing going. Also, have the players write a few paragraphs of what their characters are doing during the down time. |
