What all can an illusion do? Can it trick someone, intimidate them, make then try to open a door, make them not turn there becuse they think there is a wall there?
I am planning on making someone that just uses illusions to trick oppenats into thihnking that they are WAY strong... or by making there be grease, or stuff like that...
So what all can an illusion spell do?
Serious help needed!

There are many terms used in the illusion magic system in the PHB. (figment/glamor/phantasam/ and a few others I can't remmember. Each one should be listed in/by the spell description and each one does something specific.)

You just have to pick the correct moment, use the correct spell and have a HIGH! Bluff. Sense motive could help also.

Have a few "real" spells as back-up. Cast Bulls Strength on someone, then the illusion on another guy. The second guy will really fall for it if he seen the first guy. :)

The second guy will really fall for it if he seen the first guy. :)What good is it going to do you to make someone think you cast Bull's Strength on them? Mixing real summoned monsters with "fake" ones can be useful, though.

Things that they either wouldn't bother interacting with, or would be afraid to interact with, are often the best illusions.

A false wall on top of a real wall is a popular one. You have your party hide inside the false wall, and ambush people that walk by. Most people wouldn't bother interacting with a wall, unless they had some reason. A fake boulder or large tree can serve the same purpose.

If you're fighting something that has a weakness, like fire for trolls, then you can use that to your advantage. An Illusionary Wall of Fire between you and your troll enemies is almost as good as the real thing.

If you're facing a spellcaster, you can cast "fake" defensive spells like Otiluke's Resiliant Sphere, or Prismatic Sphere. They might waste actions trying to Dispel them (or use the specific spells it takes to drop a Prismatic Sphere). The problem with this strategy is that they could use a Spellcraft check to notice that you cast an Illusion. I remember hearing ways to get around that problem, but I don't remember what they were.

It's sometimes the simple things that work best...

Illusionary walls and pits can be quite effective in altering the positioning of your enemies. ...in the heat of combat, when a mage casts a spell and a huge pit upons up in front of them, what would you do? ...take the time to poke at the pit with a stick (interacting with it) to see if it's real? ...or just run around it? Same goes for an illusionary wall, etc.

As has been mentioned, try to use things that the target wouldn't normally be inclined to interact with and you'll see some fine results.

So how much cube space can an illusion take up? I lent my PHB to a friend...
