| Karui_Kage01-15-06, 09:29 AM | I have had an idea for a campaign world for some time, though I don't know if it's been done already. I visualize a campaign where the players enter the world through a means of plane travelling. A new adventuring group with a wizard's plane shift gone wrong, perhaps. Regardless, they are on a far and distant world. The priest feels their divine power at some distance, as if their God has little influence on this world, save through the sole cleric. Arcanists find their power acting odd, as if each spell takes effort to cast. The idea for the world is thus. Evil has won. A group of elite mages and priests have managed to control the output of magic with anyone on the planet. Through powers unknown to the characters, they have even managed to encage the Gods of this world, and though they cannot control them, they can funnel their energies into priests of their choosing. Arcane magic is strictly forbidden outside of the chosen elite that wield it, those in power. Mage hunters and Renegade Church Hunters rampage throughout the land, seeking out any that would practice magic without permission from above. Promising warriors and non-magic users are given an oppurtunity to join the elite, an outright evil order, or perish. Even dragons, one of the most magical creatures of the universe, have been drained of their intellect, their wisdom. The chromatic dragons are mere dogs for the elite orders, the metallic ones all but extinct. Most cities consist of evil creatures more than others. Humans, elves, dwarves, find themselves outnumbered by the very creatures they sought to destroy, and must live beside them or be destroyed themselves. The characters come into a world completely foreign. The arcane users of the group know not what power they have, or what laws they betray to use it. The cleric does not understand his short connection to his deity, but still manages to channel spells, as the God/Goddess continues to provide to him. Thanks to the low level of their starting group, the mage may go unnoticed for some time. The cleric's magic will also go unnoticed, as the God will only be channeling to him/her. Granted, eventually, the powers above will take note of these new ones, and will try their best to exterminate them. In a world where evil has already won, what hope is left? ---------- This is my idea for a campaign for players of mind. I would welcome any ideas, input, etc. for the setting I have conjured up. Possible new organizations that have formed, economy suggestions, anything. I have only the basic framework right now, but I love this idea, and would like to expand on it. I can see the few dragons left, chromatic and metallic alike, the ones with intellect still, helping the party side by side. I envision a setting where the group must work with resistance cells, and plan guerilla style raids. Again, any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance for your ideas. :) (Edit: I have also posted this on the "Campaign Workshop" boards, as I was not sure which would be more appropriate. Feel free to post on both if you like, but it isn't necessary if you post on one. :) ) |

They could have somehow used their powers to steal divine power, imprison the gods and use their power to subjegate the world. |

This sounds like a Galactic Empire kinda government so were are the Rebels? 3) How could the PCs become aware of what is happening, could they attempt to join the Elite if they wanted to? You've got a great idea here. Original, quirky and very cool (much better than my Morbia, land of undead). Now get up and run with it! |
