One of the other characters can remove the enhancing item and then put it on, to give the character atleast the enhancement bonus so that he can act again. Puzzles me alot. |
| penchant01-26-05, 04:30 AM | yes, a character can be kept alive and moving soley with ability enhancing items. That is one of their strong points. Dispel magic will negate that, but you are correct, they are not affected by traditional ability drains. |
| Kyaran01-26-05, 04:47 AM | This is my perspective: Reducing the score relies purely on the base score, not the enhancement bonuses. If you have a Dex of 9, and you're wearing Gloves of Dex +6, your effective Dex is 15 but your Dexterity score is still 9. If you've taken 9 damage to Dexterity, your Dexterity score is at 0. You still have that +6 bonus, but your score is 0 and you have all the problems that entails. penchant: Do you have an official source to support your view? I want to know if I'm doing it wrong. |
| penchant01-26-05, 04:54 AM | Nope. I don't bother with official sources since I play and run by my own sense of fairness and logic. Most times this syncs with official rulings, but not always. As always, everything I say is my opinion unless I quote a specific page and book... which is NEVER. Its a game, and I'd rather spend my time writing instead of researching rules and rulings. I'm only on the boards at work since I have little else to do. |
