Ted the Mind Flayer started, as near as I can gather, in a thread discussing the various things Mialee is looking at in Complete Arcane's Prestige Class chapter art (she's reading a book and recoiling in shock. I personally think this was because she realized how overpoweringly strong much (but not all) of that book was, but that's just me). It was a 1001 thread. A recurring gag was to do something like this: 4: Compromising pictures of Tordek. 5: Compromising pictures of herself. 6: 4 and 5 together. 7: ...with a mind flayer giving a thumbs-up in the background. That illithid gag showed up so often that, as near as I can tell, they dubbed him "Ted". I don't have a link, though it's on the Spells and Magic forum.

BeyondFated 04-07-06, 10:00 PM	I'll confess, I am the originator of Ted (Full name Teddicus Tule Torander). At least, I named him. Ted is the Intermediate God of Madness, and Patron god of Mindflayers. He even a viable god to put in your cosmology. Theres a thread with more detailed stats and backstory (written by me). I'll try to scrounge it up... -EDIT- Haha! Found it! Behold, Ted! (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=563477&page=1) A good thing to do, if your going to incorporate him as a serious evil god, si to remove the thumbs up and frying pan. Other than that, he makes for one baddass god of madness, if I do say so myself.

I'm well aware of the druid's power. I was referring to things like Persistent Spell, the Thought Bottle, the Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil, and so on. You can't ignore context when stating power levels -- otherwise the answer to every single "help me make my character better" question would be "Play Pun-Pun."

It was either WeZil or Khael's doing. Someone mentioned a fry-up (I'm still not completely sure what that is) and it went from there. Its not supposed to be a big part of who Ted is, but its what the people wanted... __ Oh great, now I gotta go and make yet ANOTHER pic of Ted now!
