As the title suggests, I am about to start this campaign. If anyone has run it, or played it, could you give any advice as far as what kind of character is survivable, or have any pointers about running it? Also, does it require any 'tweaking'? There's going to be five, maybe six players. I posted a similar question on the Character Optimization boards, but it was geared more towards the character selection/development. This is more for DM advice. Thanks in advance!

Gotta bump this once, and then I'll let it die. Anyone have any advice on this? I would be most appreciative.

I have some good advice based on running map 1 once and from research on the net.
To start the campaign I think it would be a much more interesting game for the players if you started them in the world. They get involved with Longtails recruiting and path of detruction. Maybe their family was in one of those villages Longtail raided. The local government and church tried tracking Longtail but him and his army disapeared of this plane of existance. Off the magic radar. But does know the last location before they disappeared.

Second, remap map 1. Its horrible. Your players will mutiney. I got the idea half way to have one of the Archons show up to show the players to the general locations of the other tribe leaders and answer limited in scope questions. It still wasnt enought o save teh campaign. Most experienced players HATE endless nonsense corridors and rooms.

Hope that helps. :)

Isn't there information like this at the publisher's web site? To my knowledge this isn't a WotC product.

There are some interesting threads discussing this adventure over at Enworld.

Both for gleaning of information and asking your own questions.

Hey, thanks everyone. And yeah, this isn't a WotC produced suppliment, but I figured someone here might have tried it. And the AEG website kinda sucks :P.

My group is almost all the way through now they have been playing it since it was released. The first dungeon sucks big time, I recommend the archon idea someone else had.

For far they have had
4 rogues die to traps
1 fighter die to shadows
1 wizard die to a hellswarm
1 psi warrior die to a reclaimer's eyebeam
1 warrior bull rushed into the lava
1 necro fried to traps...
1 ranger and wizard toasted by a bodak

I highly recommend a good party or at least no evil peeps otherwise things are goingto get hairy about mid way.

Clerics, good.
Druids, not worth it (no animal companion replacement, no summon nature's ally, etc.)
fighters, rogues, good
monks: not so good, but okay, especially with the lack of gear...
Sorcerers, fine.
wizards, not good (no way to get extra spells, spellbook replacements, etc.)
Paladins, okay
Rangers, okay

I created an NPC...

Merchant Bob -- The Mindflayer.
He deals with everybody, and the man carries anything you might possibly need. However, running into him is a natural 20 on random encounter rolls. :D
