| Mock2602-16-06, 02:00 PM | This thread is a tongue-in-cheek way to poke fun at the RAW by coming up with strange, unusual, stupid, or whatever ways of abusing the RAW. It's just a bit of humor. Please leave the arguments in someone else's thread. Thanks! 1. You can sleep standing up with a weapon at the ready in your hand. You can even wear light armor without a fatigue penalty the next day. Nowhere in the RAW does it state that you have to lie down to sleep or rest. So, sleep standing up, with your eyes open! 2. You can hold your sword by the blade and swing it as if it were a club, and, it will still cause the same amount of damage! The RAW does not state whether or not the blade or the hild causes the damage. But, here's the best part, you won't cut your hand if you hold it by the blade and swing it like a club. |

In fact, you are better off using a weapon to defend yourself than a shield! If you have no weapon, and a shield, you can use unarmed combat with combat expertise, but you drawn an AoO by fighting defensively without Improved Unarmed Combat. You can use the shield to defend yourself with Combat Expertise, by using it as a weapon, but then you lose your shield bonus. A buckler is better than a large shield. By giving up only 1 AC, you get can use a buckler, and use a two handed weapon, and (possibly) reach, and get 1.5x your strength to damage. |

Actually, this is historically acurate to a point. You wouldn't swing the sword like a club, but you could grab the blade and the hilt and bash your opponent in the face with the pommel. In fact the phrase "I will pummel you" comes from a mangling of the name for that specific part of the sword. Remeber, historically only the first 5-6 inches of a sword blade was sharpened... |

RAW implies that the Darkness spell can improve the ambient lighting conditions in a pitch-black room. "Speed while wearing elven chain is 30 feet for Medium creatures, or 20 feet for Small." RAW implies that elven chain would make Dwarves go faster, but Barbarians, Monks, Flyers, etc. would go slower. |
