constanzza 07-31-07, 04:31 PM	if a wizard casts acid splash, but the room is no quite big, and in spell's description it is said the radious is 25ft+5/lvl .so if he casts it hee'll get cought in his won spell.can he reduce by his own will area of effect?
wrecan 07-31-07, 04:34 PM	That's the range, not the area of effect. He can cast the spell at a target up to 25 ft. + 5 ft./level away. The area of effect is the target (assuming the caster actually hits).

Jagyr Ebonwood 07-31-07, 06:33 PM	However, in the case of a spell that actually has an area of effect big enough to fill a room (like casting fireball in the 30'x30' room you're standing in), yes, you would get hit by it. You can't shape the area of a spell unless it has "(S)" in the target/area entry, which stands for "Shapeable". You can also take the metamagic feat that is called "Sculpt Spell" (IIRC) to shape your spells to avoid allies and yourself.
