| MiPPLE05-10-07, 04:17 AM | Hello, I'm currently DMing an Eberron campaign and one of my players wants to play an incarnate. The problem is how dogmatic they are towards their alignment. In magic of incarnum they suggest that a less alignment-centric class could be made by removing aura, detect opposition, and replacing incarnum radiance with some other ability. I am curious what is fair to replace the incarnum radiance with. They gain a considerable amount of power due to not having restrictions on what they can meld but the loss of incarnum radiance seems more apparant at higher levels. I was looking at the marshal list of minor auras and decided to take 1 for each alignment type (chaos, lawful, evil, good) and having the player choose at the start of each day which one he had. This would have the same progression as the incarnum radiance ability (times per day, bonus, and at 7th level you can make it affect allies). I decided on these 4 auras: Chaotic = Watchful Eye, Good = Master of opportunity, evil = master of tactics, lawful = accurate strike. I'm curious as to your guys' opinion on gaining more soulmelds due to the removal of restrictions, more freedom RP wise, and the modified version of the radiance ability i described above is too good. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

Just have them choose one and stick with it, like a min-Marshal (or mini-Dragon Shaman). As for more soulmelds, I don't think it's really a big issue. The alignment-specific soulmelds are, iirc, mostly combat-oriented anyway; they also tend to favor evil incarnates (and law incarnates to a lesser degree) more than good or chaotic. All removing the restrictions is likely to do, is even things out a bit. |
