| AlphaSquirell11-11-05, 12:14 PM | How good are the monster type-specific books out there? I've got the Draconomicon (love it), and I'm looking at getting something like Libris Mortis, Lords of Madness, or the Fiend Folio. Are any of these worth getting? (especially if it means something new to surprise players who have memorized the Monster Manuals) Besides that, I'm looking for another book to add extra "stuff" for my PCs. ("stuff" as in as different as Psionics is from Magic, but maybe not quite so drastically) Specifically, I was looking at Magic of Incarnum or Weapons of Legacy. (something that involves new mechanics that I could incorperate into our campaign) The Races books would be good, but my players metagame, and almost ALWAYS pick Human for the extra feat, so that's out. Any suggestions? |

If you buy it, try to keep your players' noses out of it so they don't read up on everything. You'll be able to toss a lot of surprises at them. As for extra "stuff" in terms of mechanics, I know Arcana Unearthed has a lot of additional things along those lines. Personally however, I don't use it. I find the Core Magic rules to be more than robust enough. |

Good amount of new monsters that are just something different than your standard undead creatures. Some of them really surprised my players who know most of the regular monsters. So that's a good book. Fiend Folio is probably my least favourite from the three buts still a very good one. I just liek the books that focus on a specific group of monsters. |

Loads of new monsters, great prestige classes, FLESHWARPER!!!!, new feats and spells! What more can you ask from a book (other than a three course meal ;) ) |
