| Burgundy Lotus02-20-04, 09:48 PM | If I were to say, take a level 7 fighter and add a were template that added a LA +2 what would happen to the characters XP? Would the character count as a level 9 Char with the same XP as before, meaning they need to add over two levels worth of additional XP before moving to level 8 fighter? OR Would the character gain the required XP so that they would be an equal distance between levels 9 and 10 as they were between 7 and 8? Thanks in advance |

I think this is where all the templates come in handy, so the player still progresses slowly. It also helps so that the player isn't suddenly significantly more powerful then the rest of his party. I know the wear-templates have been posted on the main website, under the Savage Species section if you were interested in that. But I haven't actually applied this in a game, so you might want to wait for somebody else's two cents. |

This is correct. Imagine you have a party of 4 7th level characters. You add the template, and suddenly you're basically as powerful as a level 9 character. The rest of the group gains level 8, you're still level 9 basically. Everyone gains level 9, you're back even. Everyone gets enough to gain level 10, and you go up another fighter level, and everyone else goes up too, and you're all even. It seems like a long time to go without levelling, but that's because you're getting the benefits of a 9th level character at 7th level. |
