| PenderGrass10-05-04, 10:06 AM | Hi everyone! I search for an adventure for a party of 6 players, that didn't play at all... They are first level... Our Master hast no experience at all, and I, I don't know why have to care about all this stuff...but thats another topic... Does anybody know any free adventure for us? It must be optimized for a 6 player party, sice it is very mighty...We haver a Shur(half Drow. hlaf Demon) in the party... Thanxxs I don't have an adventure for you (or your DM). I do have this advice for you: Stop. You are having a DM with absolutely no experience run a game with half-drow/half-demons running about? You are having a totally novice DM run a game with a party of 6 that are 'very mighty'? Whoa. As in, 'don't go any further.' Try running a game with less 'mighty' PCs. Try letting your DM work up the knowledge and experience needed to run games with 'mighty' PCs first. Have everyone start with Core Book PCs and all of them at 1st level. You will find more pre-made adventures that can easily be 'beefed-up' for 6 PCs if you all start as basic, 1st level PCs. 'Beefing up' modules designed for 4 PCs to meet your 6 PC requirement is going to be something that your DM is going to have to do. Everything that is made by WotC (including the DMG) is set for 4 PCs - that I have seen, at least. If you choose to ignore my advice - then let me say this "Tell your DM that erring on the side of too easy is better than killing all your PCs off." (Although, that might not be a bad thing - really.) **** |
| Vharuck10-05-04, 10:16 AM | I agree with PenderGrass, but if your DM can handle it and/or you fix your races NOW, I'd suggest The Burning Plague, a free adventure that you can download off the WotC website. It says it's for 4 people, but believe me, 6 would have a very very tough time with the adventure. |
| olshanski_home10-05-04, 10:16 AM | Pendergrass is absolutely correct on everything he said. You should stop immediately. There is no need for crazy half-drow characters unless your players are all extremely jaded and your DM a bit on the lazy side (so that exotic characters can fill the void left by a lack of really compelling plot). A good DM can make an adventure exciting using only the core rules and using only core races. If the DM has no experience, this is what I'd say: 1. Use the core rules only. That is the Players Handbook, DMG, and Monster Manual. Nothing else. 2. Use a 28 point buy to create your characters. 3. Use "Sunless Citadel" by WOTC: Wherever there is 2-4 of a creature, add 1. Wherever there is 5 or more of a creature, add 2. OR Use "NeMorens Vault" by Fiery Dragon. Use same rules for increasing the number of creatures. OR Use "Crucible of Freya" by Necromancer Games... you can download a free introduction called "Wizard's Amulet"... and download the supplemental wilderness materials. This should not need any modification. |
| therisenevil10-05-04, 01:36 PM | And what about the gold and Weapons...how is that to increase...? No, we are not THAT mighty...and the DM has already mastered DSA and Vampire the asqerade...and is there a free campaign maybe? |
| On_the_wings_of_TPK10-05-04, 01:52 PM | If your DM has master vampire the masquade then (s)he should be able to come with fine adventures on their own. Have faith in your DM, otherwise the game really isn't worth playing. As for the drow crazyness, try calculating out what your real ECL is and look for a campaign based on that. |
| Didge10-05-04, 02:00 PM | I'm guessing that english is your second language? If so what's your primary language? Many folks on here are skilled linguists (I'm not that skilled, but have studied several languages including French, Latin, Russian, English [Duh], American Sign Language [not that it could be done here well], Spanish, and a smattering of others I pick up here and there) and might be able to help you better interpret what it is that you are asking for if you could post it in that language. Just an idea to help us help you. :) |
| therisenevil10-05-04, 02:05 PM | MY first one is russian, I am from ukrain, my second one is german, I lie in Germany... |
| Bartleby_GoC10-05-04, 02:43 PM | Sorry, understand so little German or Russian that we'll just have to go with English... :) Sunless Citadel has some very funny parts to it. I ran an adapted version of the upper level and my players loved it. I would also echo the advice that you stick with PHB races and classes. Your DM may have experience with other games, but they still need to familiarize themselves with D&D before letting int he wierd stuff. The fact that you're considering a fiendish half-drow in a 1st level game is hint number one that the DM doesn't have quite the grasp of the rules needed for that stuff. Besides, the fewer special abilities you start with, the easier it will be to learn the game. Heck, I think I know the game farely well and I still don't normally allow oddball stuff. Bartleby |
| Moblin10-05-04, 03:19 PM | Ok. German is only my third language (English is my second) so its not perfect but I think I’ve translated it pretty accurate: Ja, unser DM ist genauso Anfänger wie wir, aber er hat schon Vampier the masquerade und DSA gemeistert... Ich hoffe sehr das wird was, weil ich über 100 eur in die bücher inverstiert hab...Tja, und wir sind 6 spieler und ein MAster...da man es Am Anfang möglichst eicht haben will, frage ich natürlcih: was solln wa tun...wir haben keine chance auf nen guten master, daa keiner mit 14 jährigen spielen will... was solln wa tun...? Our DM is just as new to this as the rest of us, but he’s already mastered Vampire the masquerade and DSA. I really hope that this will lead to something since I’ve already invested more then 100 Euros in the books. We’re six players and a DM (ok I’m not sure about the next part but I think it goes some thing like this) since we want as easy a start as possible I naturally ask you: What should we do? We have no chance of getting an experienced DM (written as: a new and good DM) since nobody wants to play with 14 year olds. So what should we do? A little piece of advice. The spellchek in word is really a big help if you’re having trouble spelling. Try writhing your post in word first and then copy/paste it. I’ll see if I can come up with a piece of advice later :) |
| Didge10-05-04, 03:57 PM | You would think, having been born in Germany I'd be able to speak it, but alas no. German is a language that I still have yet to even understand, as I just have a problem grasping that language. I'm going to assume Moblin translated it correctly, and now maybe some folks can put in some helpful suggestions. |
| VirgilCaine10-05-04, 05:25 PM | And what about the gold and Weapons...how is that to increase...? No, we are not THAT mighty...and the DM has already mastered DSA and Vampire the asqerade...and is there a free campaign maybe? There is at least three 1st to 20th level campaign's worth of material * available for free on the WotC site. I'm serious. There is A LOT of free stuff. * a lot of it would need conversion from 2e to 3e or a bit of development by the DM, but still. Something's better than nothing. |
| jagggar10-05-04, 05:57 PM | Your English is better than my German would be. FREE Original Adventures (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20030530b) There's the link to free adventures. I suggest using only races from the Player's Handbook for the first game. In my first game, I was a half-fiend. Most of the party had templates that weren't balanced with each other so it was confusing at times. |
| DeWayne10-05-04, 11:27 PM | And what about the gold and Weapons...how is that to increase...? Money is easy. Your DM just increase the amount by whatever percentage (s)he increases the quantity of monsters. For example, (using nice round numbers to make this more clear) the encounter as it's written in the adventure has 5 monsters with a total of 40 gold pieces, and your DM decides to increase the number of monsters to 7. 40 gp divided by 5 monsters = 8 gp per monster. 7 monsters each with 8 gp = 56 gp. Don't worry about weapons at this time. The characters will already have non-magical weapons. A +1 long sword (likely the most common magic weapon around) is worth 2,315 gp. That's an appropriate amount of treasure for an encounter about midway between EL 6 and EL 7. If your 1st level characters see a monster in the EL 6-7 range RUN! I don't care how 'mighty' you think they are. |
