Adventure help. [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-30-04, 08:41 PM Okay..I got this little adventure that I am thinking of going with..and I want to know what is immune to a basilisks petrifying gaze attack..cuz I am planning for guy in a town to own a basilisk and he has his pet petrify people so he can sell them to rich people as statues..would be the criminals and stuff that get the death sentence..or something like that, not sure..so this guy won't exactly be evil..maybe lawful neutral or something.

I can't find what has immunities to gaze attacks..I only have the 3.0 books though..friend has 3.5..but my friend is the one in my game so I can't let him know.

05-01-04, 06:33 AM For a REALLY interesting idea, how about a blind Monk or Kensai. Give them class features or Feats allowing them scent, listen and search bonuses, and blindsight with a range of about 20ft. Should be VERY interesting to see that fight!:D

05-01-04, 07:15 AM Just to point out, the guy wouldn't be Lawful if he was partaking in vigilante justice when there's a proper method in place.

So how about taking it a step further and having petrification as the way the town deals with criminals. Taking this *another* step further. Perhaps the guy has been framing nobles of the town, having them petrified, then selling the statues to their enemies where they can be revived. ;)

05-01-04, 07:41 AM Actually it will be something about some higher up (corrupt judge maybe) in the justice system of some town likes to send criminals to this guy's place to make them be statues..and the one that "owns" the basilisk was told that this was the official way of doing stuff..so he is just basically doing what he feels the court is telling him to do..I don't see him being anything other than lawful if he is just doing what he feels is right..maybe he doesn't have a great int or wis so he doesn't quite catch onto this stuff. And the judge guy is also telling him that since he can't see so he can't do farming or anything and pay taxes that this is another way to deal with it by making these statues and selling them to rich nobles to make ends meet (most of the money going back to said judge since the "innocent" guy thinks that's how stuff works).

I don't REALLY want there to be a fight, but it might happen..I personally want to see the group get into some kind of investigation to expose this judge of wrong-doing.

Even a blind old man might work in this situation..maybe he thinks his pet is a dog and the judges croonies keep an eye out for him and when something turns to stone they come in as quick as they can and take the statues?
