Okay, so I am starting a new campaign in the Dragonlance campaign setting, with a few elements stolen from other settings (like some FR magic).

Anyways, I am writing the first adventure right now, and as I was looking trhough the beastiary of krynn I saw both the Feeder (page 31) and the Disir (page 41), now I was also looking at the premade adventures at the time and I got an idea.

One of the great dragons, (I am not such whether to have one of the evil dragon queens be the arch nemesis, or have one of the good dragons be SECRETLY evil, I am still working this out). ANYWAYS, I saw the "Burning Plague" adventure, and so I thought, what if it was DISIR attacking the miners instead, and better yet, what if part of the PC's reward is a "lucky dagger" (feeder). The feeder will be a spy of the arch nemesis, and will end up becoming an importent NPC of itself (it might not be able to fight, but it is small and stealthy, and it can add some excellent RP elements to the game).

The feeder will actually be a transmuted dracolich, second in command only to the main enemy. However the dracolich was cursed, and trapped as a Feeder for all time, or that was the plan until the PC's inadvertantly released it... The first several adventures would leave the dagger unknown, and then several adventures later it would be "spotted" drinking the blood of something, and it would reveal itself as a wizard of the white tower who was cursed. He would then trick the PC's into doing seemingly good deeds on his behalf, actually setting up the world for destruction... It would likely not be so linear as described here, but that is the general story arc. That way the final battle of the campaign will be an epic duel between the PC's good and the dracolich/dragon king/queens evil, or the PC's might just find the role they had been carrying out unwittingly to their liking and seal the fate of Krynn in a second age of chaos.

That is all I have so far, but I want to know if you think that would be an enjoyable campaign? Would YOU enjoy playing it?

Just hope there isn't a paladin, or anyone else who can cast Detect Evil, around or your carefully laid out plan fails the instant this "feeder" start drinking blood and stuff...

...after that it will be quickly hacked to pieces or reduced into an information slave, or some other useful purpose.

Also, since the Feeder seems to be a creature it will show up on all sorts of Detect spells, which isn't such a great thing.

How about going with an Intelligent Weapon? Same basic results, but the weapon can hide its intelligence for a good while longer.

But a feeder is still a dragon... A weapon is just a weapon...

There are no paladins in my potential party, that is the only reason I considered eecuting it as I did.

It sounds like a cool idea. Just remember, if the PCs figure out a brilliant way to discern the true identity of the feeder, let them do it. If they're smart enough, they deserve to be able to increase their own chances.

Oh indeed, I want them to figure out the identity FAR before they are capable of actually doing anything about it... I want them to inadvertantly release it through some mundane curse removal task, and then it will teleport away. A few days later, then I will slowly start describing the world in slightly more evil and bitter terms, using more depressing adjectives...

That way they are REALLY satisfied when they cleanse the world of his evil...
